Father I am sorry for the pain you have endured,

Sorry for the disease that will never be cured,

I harbored nothing but hate in my heart for so many years,

Now i sit ready to let out all my supressed tears,

You never seemed to undertstand what a son needs,

Empty promises and meaningless creeds,

You should have stayed away from the liquor,

Instead you imbraced it making your death all the quicker,

I wish you would have been the father all my friends had,

Spent every day wondering why you got so damn mad,

It took me a long time to understand why you hated life,

Stuck in a dead end job, with a resentful wife,

If I had known, and you had talked,

We could have gotten you off the plank you walked,

For all I saw and let slip away,

Im sorry, thats the message I want to convey,

You may have been a monster at times,

But father....... i forgive you of all your crimes

I enjoyed this -- I've had these same feelings. Me and my father never see eye-to-eye, infact, we've met more fist-to-fist than he have in love. I feel the pain man -- my dad is still around, and I go through ups and down everyday. Nice peice friend.

Very heartfelt piece. I know it took a lot out of you to write this down. My father passed when I was 7 and I never had the chance to meet him personally. Something I wish I could have had in life regardless if he would have been there or not.

Damn, this was truly heartfelt, it got me, it hink its coz im soooo close to my pops, and when i read things like this i wonder to myself, shit must be so hard for that person if they dotn get on with there dad etc, and that the pain must be so horrible...
