I'm back again
Wasting an opportunity
by reciting poetry of old
Ask of me with courtesy
I'll tell you history
And no lies
I watch the skies
Waiting for that rosy fingered dawn
Casting light upon
the wine-dark waves of the pallid sea
Stock phrases borrowed from
The Odyssey
Please Mentor me
In the ways of Divinity
I've wasted yet another opportunity
To ask Melissa out
I saw her,
I spoke,
I excused myself with dignity
Working out excuses in my head
My stomach hurts
I'm tired
I don't feel the least bit charming
But there she goes,
And my written teardrops start
I tear my own heart apart
And Homer is little consolation
All I had to say was a few simply stated words
I'm typically good with words
But with her....
I feel at a loss....
Like Zeus might send a thunderbolt upon me
The second my tongue speaks, I ____ U
I want to say....
I'm wallowing....
I want to say...
Not today, but maybe tomorrow
I want to take you out...
I want, I want, I want,
It's times like these,
I hate myself again.

Love of mine, someday you will die
But I'll be close behind I'll follow you into the dark
No blinding light, or tunnels to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight, waiting for the hint of a spark
If heaven and hell decide that they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
