Little Black Boys

Little black boy walking in the dirt
No different the little black boy walking on the concrete
The world so vast so big
He stares up at buildings
Where the other little black boy stares down the long rows of fields
Trouble is in the form of a whip, chains, and nooses too
Not the drugs, violence, and gunshots
Toes torn and battered without shoes
Feet swollen, cut, and scrapped up
Shoes torn and battered
Holes in the soles and rips in the material
He sits on the curb throwing rocks across the street
Hitting trash cans and trees and houses too
Perched on a rock in front of a vast water way
Throwing rocks along its waters and hitting trees
Little black boy it’s time to come home
To your humble home with a single mother
Father gone doing time for doing drugs
Come home to the shack my little son
Supper is cooking
Father gone lynched in a tree or beaten to death
Little black boy with his older black mother
Living in a run down home
Don’t matter what the time is
Some little blacks boys just have it harder

I dont even know what to say about this piece....this was crazy....being black I could see this so vividly and it hit so close to home almost brought tears to my eyes...the way you described the lil boy doing simple things...then explaining his family problems...the father of the past haunted by the kkk and the father of the future hunted by the cops...it never ends...the single mother...the BLACK mother symbolizing her strenght its no wonder that black woman are the head of many households and carry the family...they had to be strong....you broke this down so well its amazing...the brake down of the boys torn up feet then fast foward to the shoes of the poor black boy who makes it through with what he haves...the effects of whips-chains-noose transformed into drugs and gang violence...the hardships of the black urban youth is truly underlooked until closely examed like this poem does then one realizes how hard they have it....great poem thanks for sharing!!!

this is awsome man and I what I got from it was the comparison of a black child in the pre-civil war era Vs. a black child in the modern world. Very well done man. Change is change is change, its hard to know where it is going though.
