On My Dinner Break
On my dinner break,
As dusk begins to creep in,
Mosey in, spread its wings...
The trees grow greener, a deeper shade...
Going to sleep for the day, close their eyes.
No better time for me to finish this bottle,
The whiskey fading, falling,
disappearing with the setting sun, rising moon, rising mood,
A smile graces my work worn face.
Feeling as if im relaxing in the backyard
On this cool breezy calm eveing...
In reality im in a parking lot,
Staring at the tops of trees and the surrounding night, drinking whiskey.
Knowing that soon the serenity I feel
Will be replaced tragically with either a buzzing urgency of mind, stress and rapid heartbeat, or a dreadful sense of despair, boredom, and regret,
Longing for freedom and fulfillment.
