“I’m Sick of Rap”

I have had my fill of these fictitious gangsters
I’m sick of the hustler stories
Screaming “KEEP IT REAL” like we were talking about brick walls metaphorically
And the radio is no better
They pump this bullshit through our speakers like we forgot Rakim’s 18th letter
Or Nas’s one mic
It sounds ridiculous to most of ya’ll but these songs are just alike
Let’s say crack 100 times
And ass about 50 more
Then you can sit down and think about how 3-6 Mafia got an academy award
I guess it is hard out here for a pimp
And everybody except 50 cent is a wanksta
And we’re supposed to really believe that every rapper we know is gangster
50 cent ain’t tough
He just happens to be real lucky
Half the rappers out really couldn’t even touch me
I’m not on a bragging tip
I’m just trying to say in a nice way that most of ya’ll ain’t shit
This isn’t about hating
This is about quality
I’d pass up every 50 cent record for a joint by kweli
And Master P?
Come on dog lets get serious
Good entrepreneurial skills but that rap shit, just leave it be
Why the garbage ones sell more than Mos Def every year
Mase is talking about welcome back and I don’t know why he’s even here
And for real
Who would know if he’s even hot or not
So many like him mumble whole songs and they be hot on the block
I’m not the regular music critic
Just a hip hop lover
Still wondering how this bullshit found its way above her
I’m not a radio lover
In fact I hate it now
I’ll be listening to dancehall until hip hop comes back around

I agree with ya point of view pimpin', but.......Master P??? He hasn't been relevant in ages. As far as puttin out albums or from a business standpoint. First 3 lines were the highlight. I'm a new jack on this board, so I guess I really can't compare it with anythin' else you've done. Was aight.

Yeah I haven't really been too impressed with the music that has been coming out of late. Not just Hip Hop but RnB as well. I usually just listen to a lot of the older stuff now days. Money is what fucked the love for the music up though.

This seem more of a rap than poem to me though. Some of the rhymes seemed forced in some part. The read was easy, but I still think you could have fixed up the structure a little bit. Other than that I think it was a good piece. One of those topics you can talk about forever. Hope to see more from you soon

One luv

Master P had some good albums though
like the Ice Cream Man
and Ghetto Dope

overall this is a message ive heard to many times
but then again the quality of rap has really tooken a huge hit in the past decade
its almost like they see a winning formula with club songs and a memorable chorus
that they dont want to venture out to try somethin different cuz their afraid of not sellin enough records

lack of creativity is definitely at an amazing high with music these days
they say its about a buisness and marketing skills
and really not real life just about an image they are selling
selling an exciting image....
and a lot of people are lazy with generating new ideas
they want someone else to do the work for them

but they also dont think to much about younger kids they could be influencing
but with that being said eventually you cant depend on your influences
you have to start from scratch with your own life
and you cant depend on what you hear and what theyre tellin you
what you see and what you learn from your own eyes is much more powerful in the long run though....
overall i felt the message but it was written quickly it seemed and kind of choppy at times....

i wanted to say i felt the poem.. it reads like something i wrote once..

man i say these saltines man.. they love to make us look bad.. you can get awards for something they claim not to understand the second you hear something they cant point the finger at.. its the cycle of life.. but may common and russell clean up the way most view hip hop as a whole before there is a singer on every bubble rap pop chorus.. and by mentioning those 2 names i mean to remind yall oprahs interviewin them on friday.. peep.. it could be our broadcasting future.. weed them lil bastards out..

Just A Thought

From my standpoint man points fingers at singers and media.
Rather than self for the clean up for the filth that lingers between em'.
See what started as an art of expression,a sacrit relic.
Has turned into nothin more than pathetic.
But rather than judge ,I pose a question.
Suppose in essence every man can defend with evidence,
the first ammendment .
So is it the freedom of speech or freedom of choice that killed hip-hop?
By the people and for the people they gained number one spots.
So is this where the trouble starts?
Is it wrong if this music is truly comin from the heart?
Cash, cars, and broads was a lesson from pops.
Real hip-hop lessons were taught and forgot.
Artist are outta touch with what the people want.
So we fall short cuz tradition did.
So it depends on us make dollars or sense.
And it don't stop and it don't quit

-Peace
P.S let me know what ya'll think - 1
