Wind (a villanelle)


when as fallowed valley follows shores
where the castle's ives on windless summit
yet with the appletree borrowed more

i walk the knolls of yesteryear to fore
calling your name to the breeze's culling
when as fallowed valley follows shores

i've in the starlit path of traced meteor
ran with the moon and sought the sunless
and with the appletree borrowed more

with orchestration of soaring scores
that in raindrop stopped so sudden
when as fallowed valley follows shores

belief to me is now a foreign forge
which in tongues counted on the loveless
and with the appletree borrowed more

how the timeclock our union stores
til that castle catches wind and plummets
when as fallowed valley follows shores

I thought this poem had a oldie worldy feel to it, like it made me want to read some Thomas Hardy. I really liked it, particularly:
