Online Poetry Slam

Ok ya'll its going down....One big event....One poetic stand off of artwork....7 poets going at it with their best work

the hat drawing is on May 7 (next saturday)

The due date May 13 (FRIDAY THE 13!!?!?!?!)

Anyone and Everyone can sign up..........I will draw the first 7 names randomly out of a hat....and the first 7 that come out will post a poem........has to be no more then 40 bars....keep it short...can be on ANY subject/topic you choose....first place prize is some rep level from all judges and a sticky of their poem in the Realm and perhaps on other boards as well (talk it over with the Mod's)

There will be 7 judges....including myself....and 6 other judges....Outside unbiased judges perferred.....it will be based on scoring cards from 1 to 10....(including decimals....10 being the highest)....just like the real poetry slams.....the poet with the highest score wins.....

Judges include:

1) UFO
2) Bhitiah
3) Sykda
4) Mac Flow "open Mic Mod"
5) LadyL257
6) Madpoet - "Mc hookup and 420 lounge Mod"
7) Princeofthecity- "mixtape cornor Mod"

WHat our judges look for in a poem:

1) UFO - originality and imagery....is it creative and unique....shock value....can the word-play make me laugh or cry....is it abstract....is it edgy....is it different

2) Bhitiah - you cant look for something in a poem, its gotta hit ya when it hits ya...alot of poems that are TOO orignial suck, alot of poems that are TOO honest are TOO hard to relate too....too much wordplay get's annoying, flow is important, too much imagery takes away from the content...structure is cool but it doesnt ALWAYS make the poem..................so i aint looking for anything

3) Sykda - It really all depends on the subject of the poem If its more of a tragic/love one, then I look for emotion, good wording and word choice (vocab does not make good word choice... good words do that).. And I like to see structure..
If its more of a happy/comedy poem... I look for enjoyment (emotion) and structure.. And somewhat imagery...
It really depends on the subject at hand.. But structure, control, wording, and emotion is the basic theme of my judging.

4) Mac Flow - intense, personal, obvious emotion is very important for a poet IMO, it has to be written with heart....and in conjunction with that I like to be able to see and feel the inspiration that drove the poem

5) LadyL257 - metaphors n similies mostly .... wordplay

6) Madpoet - i look for form, consistancy, and content.......as an FYI......Vocabulary counts too

7) Prince - flow, word play, relevance, feeling, how it makes me feel, can i relate to what is being talked about, if i can't relate, does it make me understand by painting a picture about it

There will be a SLAM thread posted on May 11 and then the due date to post your poem will be the 13 (Friday)

No reading others work in advance and it has to be something NEW not recycled
