A lot of people don't enjoy reading Toni Morrison. I love Langston Hughes, but if you're interested in reading about the history of the civil rights movement you might want to go to the sources...i.e. Malcolm X, or Huey P. Newton, or Martin Luther King Jr.---I am partial to nonviolence...Or you might want to read something written by Tupac's exiled cousing Assata Shakur...Her book is called Assata. As far as poetry is concerned, be your own judge. Good poetry is written in a personal way, and that's why people enjoy reading poetry that seems to speak to their personality. One of my new favorites is Rumi.
