Umm...well poets I love that I will recommend to you are Sylvia Plath, Denise Levertov, Oscar Wildes-Ballad of Reading Gaol...um Edgar Allen Poe, Coleridge, Yeats but those ones are all gives in to modern and classics. Um read some Chekov (not so much poetry but..eh..read it) Chaucer...just do a google search and pick ur own taste, brows through some of them and stuff. People on this site should have heaps.

Richard Wright ::coughs bastard:: reading his stuff just makes me sick (no offense) he's good with his works I mean ;) umm you might like Edward Hirsch, his latest-Lay Back the Darkness, really good and I have some of his older stuff: How to Read a Poem, and Fall in Love with Poetry.

Then you got your def jam poetry-check Bum Rush the Page, just a bunch of poets from around the world (like you and me) edited by Tony Medina and Louis Reyes Rivera-gotta love it. Others are Sonia Sanchez and Nikki Giovanni, umm dang my mind is gone tonight. I'm only thinking about Harlem Renaissance poets. If you want check out this site http://www.english.uiuc.edu/maps/poets.htm, I just looked it up, its all about modern poets, etc.
