This was the 2nd, hip hop show of it's kind in the country...Red Alert I think was 1st, playing all kinds of hip hop from everywhere. But what it also did was fuel the streets of Boston with it's own hip hop emergence, back in the mid to late 80's this show gave homegrown rap a chance to be heard, kids from all over the city piled into the cramped station to get a chance to rock the mic live over the airwaves for a bit of celebrity status. And it helped to groom some pretty big rap artists for the future > Guru (Keithy E) of Gangstarr// Ed O.G. (Edo Rock)// Akrobatik (Stud B)//7l & Esoteric (God Complex)// Nabo Rawk (Nabo the Jedi)// Cool Gzus (TDS Mob) of Made Men//A-Train (formally on Motown)// MC ³³³³e//Scientifik (R.I.P.)//Twice Thou (Let Us Live Prod.)//Rusty (The Toejammer) owner of Funky Fresh Records...and soon there will be such stars as > Dre Robinson// Smoke Bulga//Team 220// LT// Type 4, and very many more...So this basically is my tribute to my old school...not only did I grow up listening to the like of Cold Crush and Grandmaster Flash, but also groups like The Almighty RSO, F.T.I. Crew (Fresh to Impress), and Ultimate GQ...Believe me Boston did not start in the rap scene in the 90's...Brick Records, The Kreators, Mr. Lif...we were here doing it back in 83', and the breakdance scene was here from at least 79'. So I feel this is just as important in the old school section. I'd like to drop a link for any interested in hearing some incredible hip hop from Boston between 83-95'...enjoy the tracks, I'll be adding more on a weekly basis.
Thank You, D.Scribe (CEO/World One Ent.)
