I would've sign with whoever wanted me... but considering the amount of legends on Def Jam, I would've preferred them.

Def Jam. Def Jam was the hottest label back In the 80's, because they had everybody like LL, Run-DMC,EPMD,Beastie Boys, the popular people In rap that time, and Cold Chillin had the Juice Crew and shit. Everybody wanted to be on Def Jam back then.

But who from that label is still relevant today??... as far as being household names??

Yeah, we worship G Rap, Ace, GZA, Biz Mark, etc., but those cats are still underground. Names like LL, Run DMC, Slick Rick and Beastie Boys are synonymous with hip hop.

Back in the '80s, it was all about the money, too... the bling then was gold truck ²²²elry and the fashion was Gucci suits, Gazelle shades, name belts, 4-finger rings, Bally's.

I would've gone with whoever signed me... shit, I was excited when I used to record my voice on my lil tape recorder... I liked being the lunchroom table star, the homeroom dome-wrecker, the by-the-lockers battle MC... back then, it was just to get a rep.

I feel you, though... you always takin' me back.

Cold Chillin', they had a huge roster of artists doin' all kinds of styles of hip hop, and Def Jam at the time was still getting it's grip on Hip Hop...sure they had L.L. and P.E., but not too many more that were doing it. In the later years, hell yeah, Def Jam would most def be the spot...But back when Cold Chillin' was on top, they had a new 12'' single every week....

BINGO...

plus like half of the fucking Cold Chillin' catalog is now out of print. Not that I would have known it then, but I would want to sign to the label that could get the music to the masses even 15 years later instead of having to pay $50 for a G. Rap or GZA CD.

is this something that's in the works or gong on now?

I mean I know GZA/The Genius' CD (both versions) are still OOP, G Rap's Live & Let Die and Road to the Riches (and maybe Wanted Dead or Alive?), Grand DAddy I.U.'s Smooth Assassin & some others as well

Well, you can get it, but it's included in 'The Best of'..disc...This includes the remix for "Words..." I have that one.. Kool G.'s albums are re-issued on vinyl only..and Grand Daddy's single "Something New" has been re-issued on vinyl also., but not the whole album...
