GZA's Words From The Genius CD

Is this cd any good? I've never heard it. He was on Cold Chillin records at the time & this cd came out in 91. The reviews i read about it say it sucks. It's nothin like his other solo cd's since the Wu Tang blew up from what i read. He has production on there by The RZA who was called Prince Rakeem back then. What was the name of the video GZA had off this cd? It was some song about girls LOL. I remember that. What was the name of that wack song The RZA had back then off his cd that he had a video for? It was a song about girls too i think.

Personally, The Genius LP was pretty good..Jesse West & Easy Mo Bee was responsible for most of the production.."Come Do Me" was like the first single of the album..then "Words From The Genius" came after with the tight B-side remix by RZA. My personal favorites was "Phony As You Wanna Be" & "Slammin'" as well as a few others..

Prince Rakeem aka RZA came out with "Ohh, I Love You Rakeem" on Tommy Boy records..The B-side had a joint on there called "Deadly Venoms" produced by Easy Mo Bee..

Actually, back then, when a single was released, the B-side cuts were always better..

I had the tape back then... y'all remember cassette tapes?

But what sparked my interest was hearing the single "Words From The Genius" on a Rap Attack program... this was during a time when hip hop was only played at night. He was kickin' some ill battle raps on that joint. I remember recording it and copying the verses and using it on cats ("...shit is too swift to bite, you record and write it down"... yeah, I know) I would battle in high school. Yeah, I used to bite... I was only 14 then.

I like when he said,

"the way I come off on the mic is attractive/ I can make a quadriplegic hyperactive."

Also, when he said, "my style couldn't be bitten by a shark."

The Genius was like a combination of LL and Rakim... he had the voice and smoothness of the R and the battle-intensity of L.

Konscious that line u copied down from GZA is the same thing he said on his I Gotcha Back song from the Fresh soundtrack & his Liquid Swords cd. Yeah i remember his Come Do Me song LOL. That's the video i saw. I also heard Prince Rakeem aka The RZA's Ooh I Love You Rakeem song before. That shit was corny.

Rza put it best in an MTV interview back when Wu first came out. He said both him and Gza took a bullet getting in the industry. I remember the come do me video, it was alright for the time. The most memorable song from the Words of the Genius album to me was the "what silly girls are made of".

^Word, most of these kids kids runnin around claimin hip hop these days never heard of the Wu, let alone the damn GZA! Nah seriously though, we all know they started to slip a little bit (not sayin they fell off). Not to mention Illegal Downloading playing it's part. I can see how GZA wouldn't go Gold. Wasn't that around the time Nelly was Hot? Just goes to show, that theres alot of Brainwashed sheep out there.
And whoever quoted RZA sayin they "Took a Bullet" to get in the industry, had me dying. I heard those early tracks AFTER the Wu had already dropped 36, and a few Solo projects. I can't say I was really moved by those older tracks, but I'm glad they decided to Bite the Bullet for the betterment of all. *Dies*

he had a track on that tape (I do remember tapes! LOL) Life of a Drug Dealer that was hot.

He had a line I'm going to fuck up that ended with him "making the hands of a clock clap."
