The Shop.

Anyone see this last Thursday?

I've seen it twice now and I wasn't impressed.
The show didn't have much substance to it.

Watching a couple guys in a barbershop cut on each other is boring.

Sure a couple of celebrities stopped by, but it's MTV.
I'm used to seeing Busta Rhymes and Tony Yayo on MTV.
Yeah, I know... They're in a more real world setting (wink wink), but there's nothing all that interesting about seeing Busta get his hair cut.

At least not to me.

I hate to trash the show after just one week, but the premise is dry.

This doesn't really represent how the Barbershop's place within the African-American diaspora.

^Dog I was just about to say that. I work at my grandfather's barber shop from time to time. I pratically grew up in the barber shop. This shit they got on TV aint nothing close to a barber shop. Everything just seem so "acted" out for it to had been on some reality shit. All those fake ass punchline jokes were just lame. I only laughed one time and that's when Chris Brown said that dude looked like Spudd Webb AND that's because he really did look like that man.

They all was just acting like they knew they were being filmed. Just trying they best to be the comedian of the shop and such. They should have picked a "REAL" shop to do the show at. Not some fancy shop that has celebrities walking in and out the shop and group of barber sittin around watchin music videos. Like Hip Hop is the only thing talked about in the shops. It's actually one of the least talked about subjects in the shops.

Let me stop bitchin though

You can't expect regular people to act...well...regularly when cameras come on.

I heard them on the Steve Harvey morning show a few days back.
They kept raving about how naturally they acted with cameras rolling.
I know now that they were kidding.

It all seemed so scripted.

I just hate that people, who may not have had exposure to such culture will come away thinking this is what the "barbershop" is all about.
