How come Mad TV never made any big stars?

Look at its main rival, Saturday Night Live........Will Ferrel, Mike Myers, Chris Farley, Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Billy Crystal, I mean the list goes on.

Oh and dont fuckin come here and argue that "WEll gee SNL HAS been around for over 30 years, of course its bound to have SOME big stars" well get the FUCK outta here, Mad TV has been around since 95, it's no spring chicken either.

Hell, even "In Living Color" spawned at least TWO big names, Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx, during its comparably brief 1990-1994 run.

So by rightfully placed standards, Mad TV shoulda had at least 3-4 big names by now! But no! It's not happening, I'm telling you. But WHY? Why are there no great careers occuring to those who join Mad TV? Mad TV itself is a great show, most of the cast in the past/present are pretty talented, so what the fuck?

Are you kidding? ILC was huge. Dirty Dozens was groundbreaking shit. Wanda, Dysfunctional Home Show, the two gay film critics, The Head Detective were all great regular skits. Or that gossiping lady, or the old couple that kept trying to kill each other "and weee stillllll together". I'm not biased, but Mad TV just seems low budget and doesn't really strike me as funny. SNL was never really funny to me either.

SNL has better COMEDIANS period.

People that can be funny without skits. Mad TV doesn't have anyone that you really remember. Will Sasso....eh.... Frank Caliendo is good but without impersonations is nothing. Same for Aries Spears. Other than that... who is there? The guy that plays Stewart is funny on the show, but off isn't. He could get some roles and do well I think, but he's about the only one.

Mad TV just isn't funny to me. It seems like they try too fuckin' hard for laughs. I mean, I know that sketch comedy is suppose to be a charicature (sp?) of real life, but Mad TV takes that concept too far for the most part. It's not edgy, it's just over-done. Nothing about that show EVER struck me as edgy. At least, not in any way edgier than ILC was...
