i know i'm late, i'm currently on disk 6 of the first season.(through netflix)

great show. i'm absolutely addicted to it...i've even had dreams about it, most likely because i've been watching a lot of it lately(as i did when i got caught up with the sopranos)

but the acting and writing is enthralling, like prison break...every episode leaves you wanting for more.

By the last 6 episodes of season 1 I was absolutely obsessed, and after the cliff-hanger I've never been so desperate for a show to return. A lot of people dislike season 2, but I think I liked it even more. Season 3 has been disappointing so far, but it's only 6 episodes in so it's got time.

I mean, it looks/is directed better than most movies, is acted better than almost anything, and it took the mysteries of things like The Matrix, X-Files and Twin Peaks and multiplied them by 10. And it deals with all the philosophical stuff I'm interested in; meaning/purpose, fate/coincedence, etc. And to top it all off, there's a fucking smoke monster in the jungle!

Oh, and in case you didn't know: Jack > Locke

i just finished that 6th disk with the season finale(exodus part 2) and dropped it in the mail, the first disk of season 2 won't arrive until tomorrow. i feel like a crack addict that just ran out and is fiending desperately for that next hit.

yes@the philosophical and moral issues dripping from every episode. the dialogue is great, even though i constantly find myself finishing their sentences(not out loud of course).

i was just left with them blowing open the ominous hatch with no handles, and the kid being snatched up by 'pirates' after shooting sawyer and blowing up their raft....fuck, i'm dying here.

lol@the part when they get to the 'black rock' and that science teacher blows up, i jumped back so hard into my chair that i almost tipped over. 37" hdtv with surround sound probably had something to do with it, but it was great.

Imagine what it was like waiting months for season 2. In some ways I'm envious of you, because I think you're probably at the best period of being a Lost fan. There's so many mysteries just taking shape, and not enough answers so that you're left, as you said, fiending like a drug addict.

A lot of people complained season 2 didn't reveal enough, but that's because they're crazy. Check this thread out once you finish the final disc of season 2 and see how much more gets revealed.

This one. I just meant, check your initial post to see what the mysteries are at the end of season 1, and then compare them with what you know/the new mysteries at the end of season 2.

Yeah, the concept is appealing, but there's something about what I've seen of the show that holds me back from exploring it further... an air of ridiculousness about it all.

I may give it a shot, though.

Possibly. I'm not sure if the overall storytelling would be to your liking, but I think the philosophical stuff would at least interest you.

As an example without giving too much away... for some people, the plane crash and where they landed was purely an act of chance. For others, it was an act of fate that gave them a new sense of purpose in their lives. And there are various other examples like that scattered throughout, where you have to ask yourself, "is it purely coincedental, a miracle, or is something else at work here?"

finished it....are they going to show the first half of the season 3 episodes before they start on the second half? cuz if i have to wait until season 3 is over, i'm going to kill someone.

and i agree, i don't know what show they've been watching, but maybe it's because people are getting impatient, and just want to know wtf is really going on already.

i do too, but then that would mean the show would be over, cuz i don't think anyone would really care to watch after every mystery has been revealed. they revealed just enough i think(probably even too much)...and then left us with a hell of a fucking cliff hanger, again.

the first season was better for me as well, i'll admit. mainly because EVERYTHING was still a mystery...the crash, the characters, the island...it was all very intriguing. the island especially, which was the main focus of the first season.

then in season 2, some of it's mysteries were revealed and it wasn't so mystical, enigmatic and dangerous anymore...the main focus then became the hatch, which didn't end up as complex and extraordinary as i was hoping, but it still ended up really good. if season 1 is 5 out 5 stars, season two is 4.5 out of 5. maybe even a 4....there wasn't enough Evangeline Lilly, that woman is so fucking gorgeous...i don't think a woman can get any more beautiful.

6 episodes have aired so far, and returns in 23 days. When it comes back it will be uninterrupted with no breaks.

I don't know if you've checked it out, but that's a good site. And have you heard about the Lost interactive game? It partly revealed what the numbers mean, for example.

Oh, and Kate's in a lot of the first 6 episodes of season 3. I'm pretty sure you'll be satisfied, lol.

I find this show to be dramatically cheap. The tendency to 'resolve' a mystery with a mystery seems a cynical device by which to offer the illusion of narrative progression whilst allowing the writers freehand to construct fantastical event after fantastical event. Even the characters are kept maleable for the same purpose. If an action would seem inimical to the character thus far established they just summon up backstory to explain it away.

It is sub late x-files in my view.

That only works if you assume that answers are better than mysteries. For a mystery show? Not so much. When the answers come, that means you're at the end.
