sergio leone
the good, the bad, and the ugly and once upon a time in the west are two of my absolute all-time faves
his style just speaks to me like no other director's has before
i feel my life is really deprived by the fact that he didn't get to make more films

Paul Thomas Anderson is amazing. Can't wait for his new shit.
If "The Fountain" lives up to expectations, Darren Aronofsky could be my #2.

for as many unfair attacks as it has to take for its controversial best picture win over goodfellas, dances with wolves is a very good film, and kevin costner's performance in that is excellent

i know stephen king directed his own version of the shining as a mini-series, with steven weber (from Wings and now Studio 60) as Jack....it's alright, but it doesn't compare to Kubrick's adaptation (which King reportedly hated)
