solid list, i've seen about half.

i see you like Kubrick, are you not a fan of Dr. Strangelove?

and would you say Suspiria is Argento's best film? i saw it last week and it surpassed my expectations.

Yea Im definitely a Kubrick fan, Dr Strangelove was close to making it, I think Im gonna put Eyes Wide Shut in instead as blasphemous as it is...

And yea, Suspiria is Argentos best, but dont let that stop you from seeing his other work. Id recommend checking these out first: Inferno, Tenebre, Deep Red, Phenomena, and The Bird With the Crystal Plummage.

i like this list for the most part... quite a few i haven't seen, but most of the ones i have i would rank very highly as well. fine work...

you have chinatown listed twice though

here are a few of my opinions:

thumbs-up

(1) the omission of north by northwest and inclusion of rear window and psycho... or have you not seen it yet?
(2) david lynch's ubiquitous presence (although i would have scratched wild at heart)
(3) city of god - best film of the new millennium, imo
(4) il maestro -
(5) the sensei - have you seen yojimbo or sanjuro?

"eh" to thumbs down

(1) master of the flying guillotine - i looove this film as you can tell by my avatar, but i wouldn't put it anywhere near a top 100 list... even for favorites. you must like it a lot more than i do. how many times have you seen it?
(2) house of flying daggers - didn't really care for it
(3) edward scissorhands - no, just no! , i respect it if it's yours though. i can see how someone might fall for it, but the widespread love is a little over-the-top, imo.
(4) sin city - nowhere near top 100 material... upon reflection of it, i've seen in my own mind the faint parallels to the style of once upon a time in the west, and i may go back and watch it again with that thought... but i doubt it'll make me like it any more than i did the 1st time.
(5) the blair witch project - good film, but didn't strike that much of a chord personally

Funny you mention those Brahman, I was just about to cut out Edward Scissorhandsd, house of flying and blair witch and add Lady Snowblood, Eyes Wide Shut and maybe a few more... Keep in mind this is more of a favorites than a most important or most influential, I dont know nearly enough about film to make one of those...

Havent seen Yojimbo or Sanjuro yet, but theyre definitely on my list to see

great list, some underappreciated favorites are on the list: night and fog, knife in the water, etc....i haven't seen most of the horror-type films though.

i've got a top 50 running, it'll stretch to 100 easily though if i add in animated and documentary films....

i'll post it up shortly, or possibly tomorrow

yeah, i understand what you were trying to do, but it's just that those films i named would be so far away from any favorites list i would make lol... s'cool, can't agree all the time

it's a great list overall, however, and one that will me help look up films i haven't considered

i gotta see this the passion of joan of the arc

read some brief descriptions and seems like something i'd really enjoy

Passion of Joan of Arc is absolutely incredible, probably my favorite silent film (even though I havent seen many). and to The Jeus, there are a ton of movies on that list I have yet to see... I need to start catching up on the classic cinema and stop watching so much cheesy horror and exploitation shit lol

There are around five pre-1935 movies that can be watched today and provide genuine entertainment. You didnt name one of them. Its simply impossible to enjoy watching something like nosferatu in light of progression in the medium. Be honest with yourself.

nonsense, that's akin to saying it's impossible to enjoy vivaldi in light of mozart.
nevertheless, two of those 5 pre-1935 movies you speak of better be 'duck soup' and 'blonde cheat' or you're talking foolishness.
