One of my favorite things about anderson silva
is that he's so vulnerable in grappling, yet mma is filled with egos so pretty much everyone is going to want to try to beat him on his feet. Basically by being so good at stand up, instead of making everyone switch to something else like you'd think they would, the guys are taking it as a challenge.
Same deal with lyoto, except he isn't quite anderson silva with the stand up.

this is only a half truth..anderson is actuallyy very solid on the ground..and dangerous..its more the aim for GLORY and fame which would come big time for someone who actually outstrikes anderson on their feet,..its like you have to take that chance to become GOD OF STRIKING..since other people have defeated anderson with submission holds before it wouldnt stand out quite as much, that and pride, of course

Yeah, he isn't a total fish out of water on the ground, but I think he's vulnerable. There were oh shit seconds during the lutter fight, and even anderson himself has predicted an eventual defeat via submission.

I don't think its a pride thing. I think its because his opponents get rocked before they have an opportunity to take it to the ground. I think Forrest's plan was to take it to the ground, but he got rocked first and it was over after that.

i love the fact that everyone says he's vulnerable to grappling, yet in the past 6 years anybody who took him down and grappled with him got Subbed...lol....

He's a black belt in bjj under the nog brothers.
But, I do think his ground game is overrated somewhat. The way some of these niggas hype his BJJ, you'd think he could submit Fabricio Werdum in 30 seconds or some shit.

chonan and takase have submitted him within the last 6 years.
he isn't pat barry on the ground or anything, but he isn't as great at bjj as he is at standing up.
seeson - so far, anderson hasn't shown defense against even lazy shoots. I think forrest's gameplan was the same as rich franklin's, to clinch silva and wear him down.

not really
look @ franklin when he went for a grapple
Anderson put him in the Muy thai clinch and ended him, he did that twice to him.

you have to understand;
first of all before the Chonan fight he was had an ankle op and wasn't as sharp as he can be (although at that point in time he wasn't as good in BJJ as he is now)
in the Lutter fight he had just come back from double knee surgery, Lutter is a better BJJ grappler than Silva but in the end he still got submitted
he's now much better than he was in that era, both in the stand up and in BJJ, he would own those guys now (even if they were in their prime)
he isn't vulnerable on the ground but he can be controlled on the ground and is a bit too static when it gets there
although he has shown good sweeps and switches in the Marquardt and Cote fights

He should've definitely been in the dream tourney.
I'd give Bob Sapp a 50-50 chance.
