Everyone who picked Shogun over Machida
How did you picture him winning when you made your pick?
I picked Machida, but I thought Shogun would take it to the ground. Wasn't expecting straight striking at all, I thought it would play right into Machida's hands.

shogun wanted to take it to the ground....but machida's takedown defense is way to good for him.......
rashad and tito have better takedowns than shogun, and couldn't get him down...........
i picked machida to win...because i expected the vintage showgun.......i really didn't expect him to be patient and fight a technical battle.....really surprised me with his timing and game plan
great fight......he got screwed

i picked shogun cus hes an overall better fighter thats fought better competition..
i dont think machida can hurt shogun unless he gets reckless like wandy

to me it was a coin toss
i had machida winning by his usual counterstriking style , controlling the cage and capitalizing on rua mistakes
i had shogun winning by a more controlled aggression than thiago silva, and finishing with knees/looping hooks
shogun fights like a wild animal, but he was even more in control than i thought he would be... he showed up to fight a smart fight

Very, very similar to how it played out. I knew shogun could wear him down and outpoint him. I pictured a little more clinching and maybe some possible kneebar attempts. Yes, I knew Shogun could counter machida. He did better overall with striking than I expected, but I already said a long time ago that machida's striking game isn't flawless.
I don't think I pictured so many leg and body kicks. I thought the danger of machida snatching one was too great, but I was wrong.

I actually thought a couple of shogun's punches looked harder as well when slowed down.
Props to lyoto, though I feel he lost. I still think he and shogun can pretty much rule the 205 division unless anderson gets really bored.
now if they can just add mousasi to the mix.

Shogun grapples more like a shoot wrestler though.
Can be effective, but a lot of mma guys can defend leglocks pretty well.
