To have a tight flow, How many syllables per bar?

Was wondering.. of course it depends on the bpm.. but at normal 90 bpm.. how many syllables should you have per bar?

it varies according to your breath control..the rule of thumb for a good flow is 7 to 12 syllables..

it dont have nothin to do wit syllables to be real wit you. you can have a slow flow an still be fluent, a fast flow an be choppy. just make sure that its consistant.

breath control is also a factor. if you cant breath then you gone fuck up so get ya lungs straight. its just like martial arts, you practice to perfect the art. you get a base style then flip it an make your own.

and do take account to where you from and how ya'll talk. the south talk slower so you wont find many cats wit a flow like cats from the midwest(who hands down have the best flow)not sayin its not possible but it is a slight factor.

I'm new to the net shit, but what I learned from the street is thats it depends on your style, and the sound of the beat, and the speed of your flow, and it also helps if you write to a beat all the time

HOW ABOUT IF U WRITE 10 syllables IN ONE BAR THAN 12 IN THE NEXT I HAVE THAT PROBLEM

I dont think that is that big of a deal, but if you do something like 7 and then something like 15 syllables, you may be off beat, and sound fucked out. If you have 10 in one then 12 in another, just rap a little faster in the 12 one.

I'll tell you this... flow a perfectly flowing bar for 2 measures depending on what beat you using and see what happens.... go from song to song and you will see how melodies can affect a flow....

It's a good rule of thumb, but you can make shit like this sound good, either by half singing the lower syllable part, or by chopping it short intentionally, and dragging the next line out, starting it early... etc.

Something i notice a lot of people that come to the Dojo don't seem to realize... is that this is an ART people. Rules are meant to be broken, don't be afraid of rap. repect it's foundation, but realize that innovation and rule breaking are a part of every art form.

breathing is important.. as well, it depends on how fast your spitting..

practice, even find the artists you like and spit they shit, then you get an idea of what pace you can work well with...

try different things thats all .. witch up the things that you do to learn.. you'll take in more.
