who ever says...
punches are better than flow needs a dick in tha mouth..
who tha fuck wants to read some stretched out line that reads and sounds like shit.. I dont give a fuck how good your punch is..
if you have a fuckin shitty flow, you dont sound good at all...
compromise..
have both..
work on flow, get your content up to par..
jesus, half the kids on here are sooo worried about punches they couldnt flow if they life depended on it.
just a word of advice... punches dont mean shit.
battle emcees dont sell records.
songwriters sell records.
there is a difference
btw, learn what the fuck a multie is too, half the people here try and teach people what multies are without even knowing themselves

i think punches are more important than flow to someone who's witty and intelligent enough to grasp the concept, too many of you stupid fucks hear a sick bar and go WTF, where were the multis? he only rhymed one syllable yo! bitches. That DOESN'T mean you can't do both though, just make sure you come original, witty, and jaw dropping with it. Spit something that sets you apart from every other emcee. If you can't...stop flowin, f'reals...the last thing hip hop needs is more 8-mile-driven wannabe emcees thinkin that it's the cool thing to do so they gotta push themselves to stop sounding as wack as they do. Yo...fuck it, i'm done ranting and raving, if you learned anything from this, cool. If not, fuck it, no skin off my back.
one.

people like that have 5 syllables in one bar and 22 in the next
no one said that you gotta be unoriginal.. I just stated that 90% of this site has NO flow at all.. as well as no audio skills.
at least the people that think flow has no importance

um.
i'm pretty sure if i went in a freestyle battle and just started spittin' nice, fluid multis and great flow compared to some kid who spit some decent flow an' sacrified for punches i'd get my shit tossed.
punches matter too.

punches matter more -- good flow is easily fucked by good punchs with even one word rhymes schemes -- flow is an essential part of verses but punches do the damage not the flow

I think there is a balance between the two, I think though flow should be a bit more important if your writing something that people will feel you on. But if your battling someone punches should be more important because people just want to hear you diss the other person in the funnies or the most deamining way possible. But agian in some stuff there has to be a very nice balance between the two and if you can get that i think thats cool as hell..... anyone agrees?
