Birth Control Pills ~ Help!
To the ladies that have been on/are on BC:

I normally get really painful periods and I always vomit during that time.. and to top it off, I get cramps when I ovulate too. I was taking these powerful painkillers, which handled the pain & sickness.. but I just didn't like the idea of meds that strong. So, my gyno suggested that I try BC to lighten my periods, and take out the pain during and after my period. So I did.. Just finished my first pack.. and this sucks!!! My period was normally 4 days, I'm going on day 6 right now. It's as heavy as it ever was, and my cramps are a bitch. As I've never been on BC before, is this normal? Does my body just need to adjust? What's the deal?

Its pretty normal.. Your body needs a while to adjust, possibly two packs of the birth control will be enough to make things back to normal.. And usually as soon as you start back on the regular pills not the placebo pills your period will end shortly after..

Okay.. that's comforting. So even when I start back again on the pills, my period's still gonna be on for a bit?

In the beginning probably.. but eventually it usually ends up that your period is only as long as you take the placebo pills.

Mist is totally right, everyone is different but it generally takes some time for your body to adjust to the hormonal change... I never stuck it out long enough to find out... when I started bc pills I had a period for two damn weeks!!! I was so pissed... plus I was really irregular for a while after that. I ended up getting off of it... I think I'm going to try depo again... I might get fat again but at least then I won't have any period at ALL!

Depo?? Aye.. from my experience don't do it..Have you thought about an IUD? My sister is going in to get one because she has a terrible time with all the hormones messing with her body when she takes any hormonal birth control.. I'm gonna have to get on the pill again here shortly and its a pain, but I'll never do depo again.

IUD?!? Weren't those banned? lol From what I've read and learned about them, they can be pretty dangerous. Is that her only option (besides a histerectomy.. not much of an option anyway)?

And DAAAAAAAMN @ two weeks! God forbid! I'm going on day 7 already and I'm ancy as hell. That's already 3 days over the norm.. I don't know if I want to continue.. I started the pills to ease my period & they've made it worse. How ironic.

Same thing happened to my girl when she went on it... she was menstrating and bleed heavy for two weeks.

My cousin had an IUD... I can't get with it for some reason... I found this information on the planned parenthood website. The idea of some foreign object sitting in my cervix over the course of years is what's so unsettling for me... between menstruation, intercourse, and all of the other natural bacteria that breeds up in thurr', it just seems so unhygienic... and the likelihood of catching any type of vaginal infection is most def not something I want to risk.

I hate the hormonal methods, too, but my options are pretty limited... so right now I'm using condoms. I went through fertility treatment last year when I donated my eggs and the obstetrician that ran all the testing on me told me that I naturally produce more eggs than most women my age (read: fertile than a muthafucka) and I am most certainly not trying to come up short... *sigh* Maybe I just need to stay abstinent and call it a day... ....

yeah... that was all bad... I never want to deal with that again, but I had to do it last year while I was going through fertility treatment so they could regulate my cycle. I'm apprehensive, but it's looking like depo is my only option at this point.
