I'm not speaking from my own experience b/c I would honestly try to fix the problem and if it couldn't be fixed just end the relationship, but I have a friend that is going through this right now and talking to her daily about it (gets tiring but that's another story) but I also understand it.

It depends on what is lacking..what kind of "attention". You're saying "you don't get hugs so you turn into a hoochie" Well that's over simplifying it a bit.

What if you are with somebody..have been with them for a long time..heck even married to them and suddenly they start ignorning you..you can sit in the same room with them and they are a million miles away... they don't show you any physical affection...for weeks, sometimes months on end...they don't appreciate anything that you do..you feel taken for granted and worthless in your relationship. The other person only adds to making you feel that way.

So, they find somebody who does.

Now I see leave their ass altogether....but as we all know more people than not can't just make it that easy.

I think thats a common denominator in most incidents of cheating... something perceived to be lacking in the relationship - most likely something one feels they're not getting from the other.

I was watching Oprah the other day (lol... yeah yeah, I know!) and she was interviewing a group of married men, all of whom had cheated on their wives... and they were discussing the reasons they cheated. The common theme was that they cheated based on how the other women made them feel - cherished, adored, etc. - moreso than the physical aspect... they claimed they just weren't feeling that attention from their wives who, in their opinion, were more concerned with the kids and maintaining the house.


I think most people know that its not okay or justifiable to cheat, but they're looking to fill a need and its deeper then not getting hugs... we all have basic emotional needs that have to be satisfied... it would do a lot of people good to stop undervaluing the importance of prioritizing the emotional needs of their S.O..

skan hit it on the head. .. there is no good reason to cheat . no matter how you look at it it's wrong. what i will comment on is that people arent always able to leave when the relatioship is sour. i can say that there were a few times when i shouldve outted my relationship but didnt . i have a family and "do i really wanted to rip up my household or sacrafice my own hapiness?" if love is supposed to be selfless than the right thing is to stay and try harder to fix the problems right? shouldnt my daughters happiness come first? or as soon as things really suck and i'm sure i want out - we end up having a great day and then it gives you hope that things will be good again. or you start packing your bags and then he suggest councilling and you think ok thats something we havent tried and he seems to really want me to stay maybe that can help. maybe you arent financially able to move or have nowhere to go ? maybe they just arent ready to give up . to say that its easy to leave just isnt true.

^ i dont think anyone said its easy to leave and even though you said "cheating is wrong no matter how you look at it", you go on about all the things envolved in a relationship as if they effect your decision on whether or not cheating is nessesary (almost like..."yes but look at the other side of cheating")

but if the relationship has come to cheating then it needs to end

the person cheating doesnt deserve to be in a relationship were he or she needs to cheat to be happy

no your right. i wasnt saying those are reasons to cheat . ( hince the whole agreeing that its wrong then the ---- what i will comment on is....) i'm not condoning it, placing blame on a million reasons that your unhappy doesnt justify one act of cheating. scrolling through the thread everyones respones is that they'd just pick up their bags and tread sand. i was only pointing out that sometimes things are much easier said than done . would you find it more selfish if your signifigant other tore up your family because she didnt want to work on your relationship or if you found out she cheated? everyone will say her cheating but honestly they are both selfish . it sucks being cheated on but to have someone just give up on you.... to decide that what you've invested so much time and energy and emotion into means sh*t to them. you are now worthless to the person you love. orphaned almost -tell me you wouldnt look at it that way.. after awhile i think people just get to a point like "hi, come join me between this big rock and other hard place" cause i'm not happy and i need help climbing out.

I think personally that girls always need that attention and when they don't get it, rather than tell you the problem to try and fix it they rather find someone else cause it's fresh, new and excited. They're not all like that but there are degrees to everything. I'd rather a chic leave me cause she feels a dude than cheat on me but sometimes the ball ain't in our court. Peace!

So what I do is live my life the way I want to care free responsibility free (well except for bills and that other "good stuff)

And when it's time to release the contained sexual hormones I will hire an escort .. shes model material she has no alterior motive she has no intrest in "attachment" she doesnt wanna know where I am or with who I am.. and she will definetly not keep a child if she happened to get pregnant.

and for 70$/h model material ..

I would take the human attachment/wife and raising a family over that any day of the week. And its pretty cynical to treat humans as merely flesh and blood with organs who offer no lasting happiness. If my parents had thought in this way, I would not be where I am now seeing the responsibilty which they took for me and accepting the responsibilty that I will take for others. I think your decisions are based on insecurities of long term relationships and not being able to cope in them.In my opinion, the rewards of raising a family and pursuing loving relationships are far greater than saving money and having a 'comfy' batchelor pad in the city.

You are nothing but decaying organic matter so is the person you choose to establish an attachment with... lol and here comes the "insecurities" part.. well the same can be applied to your argument of "cynical" flesh and blood are you insecure with knowing that everything around you is nothing but contained energy?
