I don't think it's actually a freestyle man lol I just like it so much because I think it portrays the motions of being 16 really well..being cocky, passionate, and full of shit lol
To each their own though! I liked backseat freestyle, bitch don't kill my vibe, and mad city the best

Nah its a freestyle.
In a youtube video I once saw, Big Daddy Kane clarifies the true meaning of freestyle which is a verse that is "free" of style. Just a bunch of dope shit that an artist puts together.
Its commonly confused with "off the dome" which is spitting rhymes off the top of your head.
I dont think its a bad song, but when it comes to just spitting a hot 16, SOOO many rappers can do it. thousands and thousands of underground rappers can spit some dope freestyle shit, but it takes a GOOD RAPPER and ARTIST to do what kendrick did on his other tracks, which is make a cohesive, lyrical album that is ALSO good music.

Makes sense. When I think of freestyle though I tend to think of off the dome rhyming..idk man Big Daddy Kane's definition just sounds like writing a song to me..lol

nah, writing a song has an actual subject...
freestyle is putting a bunch of lines together that rhyme, but its really not about anything.
