All of the Best Rappers Are Over 30
Is that a problem for some of you?
Not me.
Name me 10 rappers in their 20s who can fuck with the following:
Nas
Jay Z
Mos Def
Talib Kweli
Eminem
Black Thought
Percee P.
Wordsworth
Breezly Brewin
Royce 5'9"
Mr. Lif
Raekwon
Ghostface
Opio
Charli 2Na
Big Daddy Kane
Slick Rick
I can name a few maybe... Blu, Wayne, Joel Ortiz, Budden, Asher Roth... everybody else is ass to me... I would even add 50 and Fab up there with the over 30 dudes, because they make entertaining music, even though I think they're lyrically deficient at times.
Phonte is still in his 20s... he's alright, I don't know... add him, too... I haven't heard much from Jay Electronica.
Instead of it being a war between "young (under 30)" rappers vs. "old (over 30) rappers," why can't they co-exist?
I think the over 30 crowd is giving something that the young rappers can aspire to... which is longevity, creativity, respect, and good fuckin' music.

J. Cole
Wayne
Phonte
Blu
Drake
Lupe
T.I
Cham (he's 29)
Joe Budden
Joel Ortiz
Thats 10. I dont really see too much of a beef with older and younger rappers. The only time age is mentioned seems to be when people try to diss Jay. Except for that, I dont see any big divide.

^ Who the fuck is DZK? You always mention him.. isn't he someone on this site? lol @ netcees - the worst thing ever to happen to hip hop.
Anyway,
Lil' Wayne
Lupe Fiasco
T.I.
These 3 currently release better music than almost anyone on your list. lol at you listing BDK and slick rick and talib and mos and nas and jurassic 5 etc. Those guys aren't relevant any more. They either don't release any music, or the music they release is not good.

for the love of God, shut the fuck up and go to a different board, you haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about when it comes to this hip hop thing.

...? Explain to me how I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to "this Hip-Hop thing?" I could be wrong, but to me, it looks like you have a biased outlook on my opinion, simply because DZK is a netcee who browses thsi forum...Had I said "Lupe," I would know what I was talking about all of a sudden. Gtfoh, with that closed minded shit.

I think the reason you may have better rappers over 30 especially those who are mid 30's and up is because when these rappers were in their teens to early 20's(late 80's to mid 90's) rap was still progressing and rap was less commercialize/formulaic than it is now. So during this period things like biting were looked down on so there was a thing of having to create your own style to stand out.
Rappers who are now in their 20's are coming up in a time when biting is just business and rap is a lot more commercialized/formulaic so there isn't much of an emphasis on today's current 20 somethings to be innovative lyrically in such a way that would make them stand out like they would be had they come along during the late 80's to mid 90's.

They can hang with anyone. Your list is cool but those MCs aren't untouchable or something. There are plenty of young MCs who are just as talented.

I forgot about The Game... that's about the only name I didn't mentioned in the under 30 crowd who makes good music... everyone else named so far either sucks or can't hold a candle to the names I dropped in the over 30 crowd.
T.I. is so mediocre, that's why I didn't mention him... he makes good music occasionally, though.
I also forgot to mention Andre3000, Big Boi, Prince Po, Pharoahe Monch, Busta, etc., I mean the list can go on.
Point is, why crack on these cats because they're "old??" They make great fuckin' music and a lot of them are legends... let them be. And a lot of these young bucks cannot even hold a candle to them... I can see if most of the youngins were better and were gettin' blacklisted or squeezed out by the older cats, but they're not. They should look to these older cats and step their game up.
