You don't get it.
Are T.I. and Game the only rappers rapping?
No, so why would my statement make it seem as if I would want rap to be all hard?
What I mean is that they should stick to what they do BEST... instead of trying to stretch to reach every demographic. Some rappers just can't do that. T.I.'s commercial songs suck. I don't like them.
Common should stick to conscious songs... he can't do hard.
Do you get it?

^ I've always agreed with that. 99% of 'songs for the ladies' make me want to fuck a volcano. VERY few artists can pull it off.

Now you bringing Pac into this... he was one of the few who could pull it off.
Biggie pulled it off, because he never adjusted his content for those type of tracks.
Jay Z is sometimey... because mainly, his lyrics suffer when he goes soft... but some of his shit hits.
T.I.'s main problem to me is horrible beat selection for those songs. I can see the appeal of "Whatever You Like," but when you contrast it with his regular work, it just seems too much of a stretch. Eminem is another one who is horrible at commercial songs. He becomes overly corny and forces his rhymes too much.
If you can do those songs well, then do it... if not, stay in your lane. That's all I'm saying.

When you factor in all of the major rappers who are still relevant and making music, 33 is probably the median age now. He's a youngin' compared to a Wu Tang member, Redman, Jay Z, Nas, or Busta.

Nah, he's young, like 25 or 27. But his knowledge of hip hop is vast and great for his age. I like him. I respect him.

Yeah... he was droppin' some names I hadn't heard of in a looong time... a lot of names of cats who never even made albums, just singles and freestyles.
I read a review of that album back in '06 when it dropped and I think he was like 23 then... he does everything... rap, produces, dj's, scratches... I didn't really become a "hip hop nerd" until I was 16, when I started competing with my homies in school in amassing a huge collection... before internet message boards, recess and homeroom were my hip hop communication communities.
