quick wake-up morning routines?
Do any of you do any physical activity right after getting out of bed?
A week ago, I started doing 50 push-ups, 50 incline push-ups and 50 bicycle crunches.
I don't know how helpful or hurtful this is, but I at least feel empowered and energized from it.
Is it bad to be doing something like that on an empty stomach?

You must not have much of a weekly training regimen? Do you train at all?
If I did this bullshit, I'd interrupt my recovery from real workouts.
Basically, one school of thought is that upon first waking up, doing cardio/exercise is the best to burn fat because you're body has had all night to burn through energy (carbs/proteins), is low on blood sugar levels, and thus has to burn fat cause there is no other source.
I don't know about you, but I eat before bed (casein/cottage cheese/etc) but when I wake up, the first thing I do is drink a big protein shake. Why? Because you're body is in catabolic mode all night (burning/breaking down protein/carbs) which technically is BURNING MUSCLE. So in my mind, the last shit I want to do when I wake up is assist it further by giving it no energy to sustain itself. So the other school of thought is that workouts will always be better when done after getting food into your system. And that is most logical to me, and I stick to that.
Even though you aren't doing an intense/full workout, just a "warm-up" or sorts. I'd still rather do that after getting some nutrition into your system. I mean the benefits of eating first aren't just nominal, it can avoid you feeling nautious, extend the workout, more intense, feeling better working out.
I'd be willing to bet you won't keep that up for longer than a couple months anyways. Bottom line, its up to you and what feels best. If you are honestly training throughout the week and hitting these muscles already on a solid split/routine, I see no reason to do this.

I train throughout the week... nothing super hardcore but it's enough to make arms/chest sore in the morning. That's why I kind of questioned whether I should be doing it at all, but pumping out those push-ups actually rids the soreness somehow.
The inspiration came from Linda Lee saying she would wake up every now and then at 3 or 4AM and find Bruce randomly doing push-ups off the edge of their bed.
Thanks for the informative, thought-out response though. I had an intuitive sense of some of the things you were saying simply by observing how I felt.
You seem to consume mad protein. Do you have pre and post-workout shakes in addition to the morning one? You must be looking to pack on heaps of muscle. I only ingest an Isopure Whey Isolate (50g protein) after a workout and get protein from other meat, dairy, etc sources.

Actually, I wouldn't doubt you'd feel soreness go away, purely because you're getting blood back into the area and loosening up. I mean I don't know how Bruce Lee trained, in fact, I don't even really know how martial artists / MMA guys train because I just don't train for punching/kicking/grappling with people you know. I train like a bodybuilder.
It depends on your goal. If you are ONLY doing bodyweight stuff, maybe this could work for you if it feels good. But lets say you hit chest on Monday, are you really gonna want to do 100 push-ups Tuesday morning on no food?
I mean, if you are trying to build muscle/strength, I don't think I'd ever do extra chest/ab work every morning. Just seems like you'll eventually get diminishing gains because you'll eventually be overtraining. Thats my take IMO.

i sometimes walk in the morning for 30-45 mins around 4mph during a diet phase...but most of the time i am too tired to do that....but theres nothing wrong with that
I dont think low intensity fasted morning cardio works better or worse than regular low intensity cardio...
as far as pushups and whatnot...yeah you can do that...a lot of athletes train several times a day...thats quite low intensity...just eat food afterwards...
Also, rushing blood into your muscles like that can sometimes speed recovery...
just make sure you eat properly throughout the day and train very very hard...

OH yeah, I get my bodyweight at least in protein daily, in fact, closer to 1.5x.
Even on food though, if you walked 30-45 minutes at around 3 mph, after around 15 minutes your body adjusts to the same level of activity and starts burning fat instead. For cutting thats one way to skin a cat.
Wouldn't you say though supacilious that training multiple times a day is only good for the highly trained athlete? Some pros will train different, even the same body parts up to twice or multiple times a day, but that isn't recommended for even an intermediate lifter because it's gonna overtrain a person.
Interesting tho, hitting the gym twice a day would be rough unless it's your profession.

it really depends on his goals...
if his goal is bodybuilding related, i don't think he should do it...most good bodybuilders use bodypart splits and train once a day 4-5 times a week...seems to work fine
most elite athletes train more than once a day doing energy systems work, strength, and power training....
strength athletes train somewhere in between...
so if his goals are bodybuilding related...i dont think he should mess with it...
but if his goals are athletically related...then adding training sessions isn't a bad idea...

A couples times a week I'll do some light cardio when I first wake up, but no kind of lifting. The spine's full of fluid upon waking and doing heavy lifting will risk an injury. I know you're talking about crunches and shit, but I thought I'd put it out there anyway.

Right as you wake up, drink a 16 ounce glass of cold water with ice.. a hour later drink another glass...
Experts say this boost your testosterone levels and increases metabolism..

After I get out of my bed then I just go for a glass of water, then go for brushing the teeth and after that I go for yoga. So such is my routine.
