This is a discussion on bullshit weightloss rule within the Health & Fitness forums, part of the Sand Box category; you should only loose 2.5lbs per week. this sounds not true to me.. what about those cross country and marathon ...

bullshit weightloss rule

you should only loose 2.5lbs per week.

this sounds not true to me.. what about those cross country and marathon runners some of them probably loose weight more than that per week.. and im sure theres been other people that tossed more than that per week.

shouldn't you loose however much you want and exercise the way you want?

i mean right now i prolly couldn't loose more than 2lbs per week but in 2 weeks i was hoping to kick it up to a 3lb weight loss per week to lower my bf% under 10%.

i been reading alot of bullshit on weightloss forums and other sites and most non forum sites is always trying to sell something.

the thing is if you lose weight too fast youre not going to be losing just fat, its going to be muscle too.

it also depends on what your weight/bf% is. if you weigh 240lbs but are at 15% bodyfat then yea you arent going to want to be losing more than 2lbs a week. however, if youre 300lbs @40%bf then if you lose 10lbs in a week its not such a bad thing.

why dont you post some pictures of how you look so people with perceptions other than yours can get an idea of where youre at and what you should be doing.

wont protein help with muscel loss to? if i intake 90grams of protein per day i can keep my current muscels i dont have a digital ill get one this week and post pics there only about 20 dollars here at target.. i prolly have a high bf% sense my hips are pretty poochy thats where most of my weight comes from tho i already flattened my gut somewhat i havent checked bf% sense 12 grade im buying a monitor on amazon

people keep telling me im not eating enough food to

what if im only worried about loosing weight i mean i can always rebuild any muscle i had its not like they was noticeable anyway

yeah keeping your protein high will definately help, its one of the most important things to do when cutting. just keep in mind that it doesnt mean youre going to keep all the muscle, just more than if you had lower protein intake.

dont waste your money on monitors and BF gizmos that shit is never ever accurate. youre better off using a mirror and judgement.

I guarantee those marathoners eat tons of food though.

The best way is to take things that will help spare muscle. Primarily amino acids like BCAA's, and Glutamine. You have to also keep your Testosterone high which mean no sugar consumption. Add to that a steady workout schedule with plenty of rest. Also eat tons of cruciferous vegetables.

You should also get your body fat checked IMO. It'll give you an idea of what percentages to make your diet up by. A nice digital body fat scale would be fine. I also recommend plenty of stretching and plenty of cardio work.

i think someone told me those werent that accurate maybe they where wrong

i do have a step pedometer that monitors my calories burned... im going to put this on my dog and see how much calories she burns haha

well, the thing is it is really ahrd to loss more fat than 2 lbs a week...people might loss 5-10lbs in the first week because of water weight...but after that its a lot slower...unless you are really overweight

they arent. digital bodyfat scales tend to fluxuate drastically and are often just wrong to start. i used one and was at 8-10%bf and it told me i was 3. you just plug in some stupid shit like height, age, and lifestyle in terms of activity and it makes a guess based on those numbers. the only accurate way to measure bodyfat is by means of being submerged in a tank of water. its not that serious either. if youre a low bodyfat then you will have muscular and vascular definition. if you arent, then you wont.

even underwater weighing has a 2-4% error rate, there really is no super accurate way of calculating your body fat. i dont see whats the big concern on this site about what everyones bodyfat is

if your body fat is to high you will take longer to build muscle right? i want to loose body fat around my abdominal area really i don't think i should loose anyweight because right now im pretty lean not including my problem areas wich would be easy to get rid off.. when my body is stimulated ( im breathing heavy and hearts racing ) you can see muscles ripping through and when im just slouching here typing youd be able to see fat. that frame coming through my body is what i should focus on carving out right? my problem areas are my hips and my back maybe my legs ( around my hamstring area ) but not much that muscle wouldn't get rid of.

If you get your body fat measured, you can have a diet tailored to your needs instead of following dumb shit like 1.5 grams of protein per pound of weight. Why on Earth would anybody need that much protein? I don't care how big, you think it's making you. You're supposed to feed your muscle protein, not your skin, bones, organs, water weight, etc. you don't even need 1 gram per pound of bodyweight to gain muscle.

Calculate what your ideal protein intake should be by muscle, not by any other nonsensical guesstimation shit. That's why shit like getting your body fat measured, at least once going in, does matter. You could still see results without knowing, but knowledge is power man. If you want to maximize your results in minimal time, you need the knowledge.

Is knowing your body fat crucial to results? No. but it is crucial to maximizing your results in a given time frame.

they said on this calculator that if im 240lbs i should consume 250grams of protein... that would be real expensive to buy shakes for that much, not to mention i would be completely full from drinking anything and couldn't possibly hold any water.

its also expensive to tend to 3500 cal intake per day my food bill runs 300 a month now it looks like it might increase to 600.. which is pathetic thats more than my rent. so i went on that tnation website someone in here suggested i think it was live and im going to ask about that vdiet.. im not addicted to food nor junk food so it would be cake for me to cut back i just eat because i have to in order to stay alive

last time i tested my body fat was 6 months ago and it was 8%

I work out for size&strength, but i try to stay really flexible and lean, I do all types of stretches to keep me flexible and mobile...

i cant imagine ever aiming to lose weight...my whole life ive been battling trying to gain weight. Ive weighed atleast 160lbs since i was in the 11th grade which was over 10 years ago....and ive never been more than 175lbs....

even though ive pretty much weighed the same my physique has changed alot with working out....

i guess i got more muscle now than before and its countered teh fat i lost and thats why im the same weight LOL i dunno.

my buddy carl sense 3rd grade he was real skinny ( he had some kind of disease where he stayed skinny and couldn't get bigger ) doctor put him on some kind of pills to make him bigger ( now hes obese ) he was suppose to loose the weight once he gained it but he never did. he just been skinny his whole life and always wished he was big ( i don't think he intended for being obese tho )
