Star Wars : Force Unleashed Demo...Thoughts??
I downloaded for the ps3, didn't like the controls....but had a few fun moments...camera control specifically was weak......
seems like a typical hack n slash/ shootem up.....with force power gimmick

Haven't played a demo of it yet, but I've been keeping an eye on it. I never really was into star wars games but this one looks interesting.

basically the same way i felt....hack and slash...force gimmick....i was pissed off when i realized i couldnt pick anything up in the game world and throw it...only predetermined little crates and shit...which is gay.....the game is basically a basic hack and slash....i expected that when shit broke to pieces i could maybe pick up the pieces and throw them around some more...play with the physics system...but it seems like they oversold what was capable with the game...its more or less a gimmick

Or maybe it's because on the demo his skills are limited? They said you can raise everything you want as you level up like your force power, fighting abilities, saber type and colors, etc.

no im referring to the actual game engine...you cant pick things up that the game doesnt want you to pick up....
like if i throw a crate into a wall and it breaks into 5 pieces...why cant i use force on those pieces? theres no debris particle system with the force.....why doesnt debris fly around when i use the force push....there also doesnt seem to be much strategy to the game...you literally just bum rush and hit buttons...its not deep like something like ninja gaiden or devil may cry...

Well, let's not over do it.
Uncharted & Gears Of War arent "hack & slash" but they ARE "pop & shoot". Basically the same game mechanic with VERY little variation the entire game and they are highly praised.
I knew going in this game wouldn't be a 5/5 game, I am just hoping it's solid. Judging from responses is does look like they over sold the force shit, but its yall fault for believing it. To this day no game truly has an incredible physics engine. NO game, go in a room in COD4 and you can only destory certain shit...
That said, I knew shit would be some what limited, if they made a game with an incredible engine where everything was destructable it prolly wouldnt be more than an hour long...

"why cant i use force on those pieces?"
Be fair, That's just over the top nitpicking.

I liked this shit, im a fan of star wars but this by far looks more amazing the last games they let out. The force grip in here is sick and so are the light saber skills and abilities.
got a taste of the stuff he can do in that new soul calibur 4

Yeah, I played it and I could throw everything I expected to be able to throw. I figured there would only be shit here and there the way yall was talking. I only played once...the controls do take some getting used to...I still didnt have the targeting down, but the light saber combat is awesome. I couldnt get past the imperial walker, shit kept going in some mode where I needed to hit buttons, but shit was so fast you wouldnt know what to do?
All in all it might be a one trick game but I thought it was fun. What did you guys expect? Sneaking missions? Why have all that power and not use it?

well the difference between the two is that there is strategy involved....there isnt much strategy with a hack and slash game..dont get me wrong theres nothing wrong with that type of game...but i expected with the force and use of the star wars franchise and all of the hype behind the 3 engines they used that there would be something deeper to the game...i could just have been underwhelmed by the demo and i might enjoy the full game...but i had more fun with castle crashers which is pretty much a similarly styled game

Demo was pretty short, and its the same level they been showcasing in videos forever. Anyway, while there is no deep rooted stategy there is TONS of shit you can do with the force powers. Lift some one up and throw light saber at them. Lift and electocute or push. Life a couple people together and throw saber. Seems like there is more combos than people can remember.
As for strategy, I really dont see the strategy in a pop and shoot game. You run, cling to something, pop and shoot, repeat! I always thought GOW was over rated and I think Uncharted is even worse. But thats neither here or there...
All in all its whatever, Ima cop this joint. Prolly play through it twice and be on with my life, I am looking to play more single player games since COD4 been running my life. I still aint played my Metal gear or GTA!
Also, I think you can force grab more shit than you guys tried. You can tear some shit out walls and ceilings, I moved an entire ship (not the tie fighters). Maybe I am just a biased star wars fan, but I never really played any other star wars games because I never felt like they represented the universe really well.
