it's just to bad they ruined it around 2002-2003...

this game was in my mind the BEST mmorpg EVER.. before they fucked with everything it was amazing, 1996-1998 was unreal, easily had the best fighting system introduced to any game.

i cant even explain how it all works.. theres so much, but it definitely took skill, it wasn't like you could just get lucky and beat someone who is better then you, at least not initially, like i said they ruined it around 2002-2003 and made things more luck based then anything.


if you killed like 3 people or some shit your name then shows up in red and your a murderer, if you go in town your instantly killed by town guards, but you could go anywhere outside. you could kill people hunting in dungeons for magic weapons and shit then loot everything they got, and when you die your a ghost until someone resurrects you or you run waaay back to a town and go to the healer. probably one of the hugest maps in any game ive ever played, i dunno about everquest or anything i didnt fuck with that, but this was sick, you could tame animals, the skills were wide and ranged, i dunno tell me someone else here played and loved this game an can understand what im trying to express to those who havent??

when you cast spells, it shows them funny ass words haha but you can have it show what them words mean if you had this 3rd party program that was approved by the people who ran the game, it would help with small things that normally were tedious, like moving mad potients instead of doing it all 1 by 1 and shit



heres some faction fights, these were so much fuckin fun, you'd have guilds of people like literally up to 20-30 and shit, then you could declare war on other ones if you had beef an shit, so whenever you seen each other your names appeared orange and you could fight anywhere, in town or out
the dragons were animals you could tame, guilds had tamers an shit who'd bring them, some were called wyrms
the horses/llamas people ride that look transparent, them are awards people got for having an account for over so many years, you had choices of what you wanted, whenever you dismount them a little statue goes in your pack and you just dbl click it to remount

and i just found a HUGELY populated free ran server that actually is the closest thing to what this game used to be back then (theres always been many who tried but fell very very short and were never populated)... wow, i am checkin this out lol

its still around today but its all bullshit now, cant kill players cause everyone plays in a land called trammel, felucia is the land u can kill people but its like ghost towns anymore, its homo

its amazing, theres like old Ultima games but the Ultima Online is crazy, they had plenty of updates and all that which is what ruined the game to this day but this website www.uogamers.com has their own server with statistics showing daily users going over 1000+ on at a time, which is the best player-run server ive come across, and its set back in the time when it was actually good, they are people who've coded/programmed many 3rd party programs for the game so its official, anyone interested check it out its free, you can download everything you need right there however its a 700+mb file, dont get it mistaken this is no stick figure bullshit flash game, this is official

it is man, this free server has like 1000+ people on at a time, brit bank, delucia bank, moonglow bank are ALWAYS populated like crazy, factions are in running good, lot of guilds, lot of PKs, i dont remember the last time i went to mine at Minoc and had a PK come try an kill me, shit


its official my dude, its basically OSI ran, there is no small errors really, everything is just the same, they incorporate oldschool gameplay with new features they thought were good additions

if you played a free server before sometimes its like everyone has the ice staff that glows or some shit, all this fancy bullshit, and nothing is really serious, they take it serious, work like real GMs and counselors, and you aint gotta pay
