west coast gangs vs east coast gangs?

whats with dudes from the west coast sayin "oo fuck ny or jerz they gangs suck" first of all thats bullshit. a hardcore blood or crip is just as bad in nyc or compton. also people prob have this image in their mind "o west coast gang drivebys" "east coast gangs....uhhhh what they do?" well sorry to tell yall but nyc cant have a fuckin drive by like in cali. east coast cities are so much more densely populated shits not even funny. so how u gonna have a drive by wit the fuckin garbage truck and like 30 other cars within 10 feet of ya car? <--- i know that shits stupid but its to make a point. for some reason maad dudes think an area is bad cuz of gangs. you dont need to be in a gang to kill somebody or to be in a bad situation. i know plenty of dudes in nyc who would kill to have a house like they have out in the west hoods. instead of the fuckin project hes livin in

Hmmm....I didn't even check the other thread yet, but let me break it down from how I see it.

First off....I am born n raised in L.A., and have lived in gang territory since 88. Personally, gangbangin itself is not a positive thing, and I don't have "pride" in the fact that L.A. has gangs...however, most people, gangbanger or not, do have that pride in it. There are several legit reasons that most L.A. people don't respect the East Coast bloods and crips....however, most people in L.A. respect the thugs and the overall attitude of the east coast thugs, just not the gang umbrellas that they claim.

One major reason is that most of these gangs didn't even arrive in the east until AFTER the 1992 L.A. riots, which is when gangbangin was at a peak in L.A. Crips and bloods didn't just pop up in L.A. overnight....it was a very gradual process that started as something different. So for the east coast to have c's n b's just pop up, and for them to change many of the "rules" of bein a crip or blood, and not acknowledge the history 100%, it's hard for them to be respected at that level. For example....I donno anything about the "purple city bird gang", but I know that in L.A., purple stands for Grape St, PERIOD, and no blood gang would ever wear purple. Also, I heard that some gangs even wear the bandana in the wrong pocket, which is somethin a L.A. banger would NEVER do. The fact that these gangs are relatively new (12-13 years is very new compared to 50-60) shows that it must have some sort of "faddish" effect on the east. In L.A., what most crips and bloods are now started out as just small neighborhood gangs and cliques....such as the Baby Avenues, the Wilkie Boyz and Casimir Blocks in my neighborhood, and the Slauson Boys (now Rollin 60s)...and that means its deeply rooted into the attitude and culture of L.A. This also means that there has been three, almost four, generations of gangbangers in L.A. under this same umbrella. I know OG Crips n Bloods with grandkids who sport the colors, so that shows how deep it is.

Another reason....who started these sets in the east, and who gave them the names that they have? To me, the east coast environment is so much different than the west, that I don't think these gangs should really be placed on the east, especially since y'all used to diss the hell outta L.A. for "killin each other over colors". So it's very hypocritical to see y'all practice what you used to speak against. Many of the sets on the east just took the names of sets they heard about L.A., and created them in their neighborhoods, but they may have no correlation to why the gang was named that....for instance, Rollin 60s is because of the 60th streets the hood is in....Piru was named after Piru Street...Hoover is not from Larry Hoover, but from Hoover St.....so if these streets aren't on the east, how can you have those sets there? The main response is "OGs from those hoods came to the east and started these sets up to expand the hood and money from drug sales", which makes sense...however, only a few sets in L.A. acknowledge the sets on the east with the same names. Many people who claimed to be OGs from L.A. may have never even banged in L.A., and many who did only left L.A. because they were going to get killed or were targets there, so they had to leave....and they figured "hmm...lemme try to start a set here, so I can get the respect I never got in L.A."

There are many things that involve being a crip and blood that you almost HAVE to grow up in L.A. to know and understand, such as certain alliances, why one set has beef with another, so on and so on. So say if Shotgun crip (where I live) and Rollin 60 crip have tension in L.A. because of somethin that happened last week.....does that mean they will still get along normal in NY, or will the word travel, and end up causin these two to have beef? Or the whole N-Hood alliance in L.A.....do these sets on the east still have that same alliance, or will they have tension when something minor goes on?

I could go on and on...but those are some of the core reasons that I see. I am not an advocate of bangin, and I wish it would die everywhere. But I still see it as being suspect that the east is bangin. Thing is....we could care less how "real" your bloods/crips are....the bullets they shoot, the people they rob, yeah that's all bad, but that's not gonna make us say "ok they are real, they cool with us"....it's about the history, how and why they bang, and how it just popped up overnight. Personally, I don't "respect" anybody just because they kill, fight, slang drugs, or anything else...that's all nonsense to me.

I mean I always say it....L.A. is not bad because of the level of poverty. I have been on the east and south, and seen parts of the midwest, and I am sure that L.A. is by far the "nicest" looking one as far as big cities go and bad neighborhoods go. Even our projects in Watts look a whole lot cleaner than the ones in the East and South, especially the ones in New Orleans.

L.A. is bad because of the attitude that is ingrained in the people who grow up there. There are some parts in L.A. that have very nice and expensive houses. My neighborhood and even some parts of Watts and Compton have 600,000 houses, and I'm sure some of the ones in Carson are nearly 800,000. But the kids who end up bangin and all else usually don't end up bein "thugs" because of the reasons they do in other regions, which is actually ignorant to me. So if there is any "knock" that other regions could have on L.A., it is valid, because many people in L.A. end up bangin and all else without growin up in poverty.

However, as I said, the reason L.A. bangers don't respect East Coast Crips n Bloods is because of what I listed, which isn't relative to the poverty or anything else. They definitely respect thugs anywhere, but just not the crip and blood "imitations". Of all the things I said, it's not too much that any of them could even try to contest, because they know it's true, even though they have a completely different perception on it.

By the way.....I read the other thread in this forum after posting in here, and hearin about the bloods in Brooklyn doin that completely ignorant shit where they were just slicin civlians for NO reason at all other than to get cred just proves how fake many of them are. It's no way in hell L.A. bangers would do some pointless shit like that...that definitely doesn't make you hard or reputable. They are definitely tryin way too hard to be hard.

Most bloods n crips on the east don't know enough about the way they really operate for them to be legit. I don't care how many "OGs" went there and started these sets, it's just some things that aren't going to transfer on the opposite side of the country. It's obvious when you see the bloods n crips in NY bein extra'd out at levels that are unneccsary and unseen in L.A. LMAO at cats wearin bandana jackets, belts, timbs, and then a bandana hangin out the back pocket. I can guarantee that I know more about crips n bloods than 90% of the gangbangers there know, and I don't bang at all. I wouldn't expect them to know as much as me, but at the same time, they are out there puttin their lives in hella danger over somethin they really don't know about.
