Hip Hop died starting with Lil' John. He came on the scene with crunk music which has absolutely no substance at all and made it profitable by appealing to club goers. After using the same method for 3 albums crunk music evolved into snap music with D4L and Dem Franchise Boyz and from there everyone has been trying to focus on a new gimic genre aimed at the club goers instead of making music with some substance. Everything now is about glorifying a flashy lifestyle or you can't have a hit now if it doesn't have a variation of some snap dancing or a dance of it's own. The south is not completely to blame for this because the south brought everyone UGK, Outkast and many other Legends but I think ATL is mainly to blame for robbing hip hop and reemerging with a new senseless genre.

It seems to me that the whole "Hip-Hop is Dead" thing is a bunch of rappers bitching because their album sales are the lowest that they have ever been in history. It's sooooooo much easier to bitch than actually do something about it.
It makes me sad.
Thanks NaS... you even got underground cats copying you. Thanks for helping build a better future in hip-hop. I hope he is enjoying the money he made saying that ridiculous nonsense.
Hip-Hop is alive... it's different, but it's here. Everyone knows that.

Sure it is..... its just that true hip-hop artists are making songs just for clubs other than classics with real creativity in it. Dumb fuck if you look back in the past what was Notorious B.IG. and 2 Pac talking about... I got ice and material shit in each one of their songs NO they were helping the movement for blacks and street smarts not how to be flashy and braggy and talking about shit that people can't relate to. We all got cars, ice, thousand dollar gear, yots, and big mansions that we're trying to find a way to describe them even bigger right? I didn't think so, so what do you meen different styles they all are talking about the same shit recycled in new ways and not their knowledge of the streets or ways to live better and feel good with what you got. What happened for people to forget about this is that wack fucks couldn't come up with anything creative and get sales with so they started talking about materialistic items and ended up hitting a platinum mine and they kept digging into it ever since. And the ones with talent had to convert to this because it was an easy way to get to the top and express some of their skills, but with more nonesense in their rhymes more than ever. So yeah its a new style....POP MUSIC.

Wow...
So... Biggie never rhymed about the money he had?
This is where PAYING ATTENTION becomes important. UG rappers are keeping hip-hop alive, plain and simple. People who say hip-hop is dead are the ones who try to find it on commercial radio stations. You seem to be one of those people. I agree with you, it's become pop music, but I'm not a 'dumb fuck' because I don't think hip-hop is dead.
Play in traffic.

Key Phrase: Did Biggie rap about it in every song though?
And for the record I don't even listen to the radio its just its everywhere around me from dumb fucks who don't even know what the art is about they just know it rhymes and has nice beats thats it.

So you think it has nice beats but it's killing hip-hop?
OK... stick to your guns... I think commercial radio is wack too, I just know I've got the ability to not purchase it.
But since we're being less condecending... no, Biggie didn't rhyme about it in all of his songs. But do the artists rhyme on the radio rap about it in all of their songs? No. Do they do it as good as Biggie? No. So I can see why you'd be willing to think that hip-hop is dead. You don't pay attention.

Hip hop's attempted murderers (quickly off top):
corporate america
teenie boppers that buy into bullshit
ignorance
insecurity
hip hop isn't dead, it's just that some people that are in it should be, so please commit suicide....please?

Your only as marketable as marketers make yu... the industry decides what the fads are... snap music would still be unheard of if some white tight ass, corporate mutherfucker deciding to put them on... I mean... Why would they ever in a million years put on an artist who advocates uplifting yurself, and rappers owning their masters, they have to keep the people Ignorant in order to be in business, so they spoon feed you these generic ass rappers that all talk about shit that dosent help you get anywhere or learn anything...
And Rappers are so hungry that they'll play along w/ w/e they tell them too...
And fans havent herd anything other than w/e is on the radio... and most of which are pretty dedicated to Hip Hop, and Rap music, their just missguided by the bullshit of the industry...

BET killed hiphop... DJ's sped up the process...
the original Rap City: The Bassment when Tigger hosted. when he left and went to 106 and Park was the start.
Now watch the two shows and you see the videos that are on all day...?
this is wha young americans watch all day... this is wha they come to like and download and buy. DJ's want people to move to what they play... they know from watching BET what people want to see. So they push this "trap music" ... this "snap music" ... "pop lock it drop it"
i watch 106's Top Ten Live.... and i don't see a single video that deserves to be there.
they need to bring back Ed Lover and Dre and do Yo! MTV Raps again...

the answers to HIP-HOPS murder mystery lies in the Internet and The People corperations are only going to put out what serves to Fatten their pockets so they
don't market this sub-culture to people who understand it or its essence and humble beginnings (teeny boppers) solution Teach the children and BUY THE MUSIC wackness don't sell IF WE DON"T BUY IT and stop buying Bootlegs all the time actually buy an album for a change
