Anyone know anything about performance chips??
I just got a new car, its an 98' audi a4 1.8 turbo AWD sedan... Anyone know a website that has performance chips for that. Anyone have any input on them? What other modifications would I have to make to the car for the chip to work properly?? Any info's apreciated, thanks

Well, if he threw some 22's on there, he wouldn't have to worry about buying anything with "performance" in the title.
A chip for your car can make a HUGE difference, but they are pretty expensive. Don't buy the bullshit $29 shit on eBay. Find an Audi forum on the internet and look around there, you will find a million answers for that question. Do some reasearch bro.

i really have no idea for your application...
BUT, im real into offroading/muscle cars, and just about everything ive read says performance chips are straight garbage. they might boost your hp/torque at the highest rpm, but only by 3-5 points...basically, youre better off saving your cash for a REAL performance mod...
however, your audi's a turbo and i know some chips for turbo engines, especially the banks kit for ford powerstrokes, can make a serious difference.
do your research man...it sounds like the chip market can be REALLY hit-or-miss, so if you DO get one...be confident/informed on your buy.

^^^^ as said above dont waster your money on a chip. Get a chip changer and you can change the chip already in your car. It wont be as good but it will still give a little more power (maybe)

LOL.. dont listen to the person above me.. they know shit about what your engine is capable of with just a chip.
This is easy man.. you have a 1.8t motor.. one of the best motors out there. Top ten engines for a few years now...
A performance chip like APR, REVO, or GIAC will boost your hp up about 45hp and about the same tq. Easily the best performance mod to do for 1.8t Audi/VW's.
How many miles do you have on your car... if you have about 100k or so, I would say to pick up a K04 for cheap and use GIAC software to get your car at about 250hp. If better get a GT28r, probably want to go with a standalone setup... well hell no need to get into all this when u want a chip.
But search for what I gave you and you will be fine. Respectable and affordable chips that will give your car life.

Sorry I'm bumping an old thread but don't waste your money on these. I was thinking about getting a performance chip too, but it looks like these things don't do crap. I was reading this article about it, and it looks like these things don't work at all
