going for comps.. what should get me MORE SPL

1. 4 12s with 120rms each.. ported

2. 2 12s with 180rms each ported

subs in trunk, thanks.. in a sedan.

Cause the question is stupid....more speakes means more SPL = louder...but it all comes into play with speakers amps..box style your goin for Comp..then ported...and so On...

Theoretically, doubling the cone area should give you a 3 db gain, but once you put the subs in a car those numbers are all thrown out. You also need to know if your amp can can hold the load that the two setups would present it.

Personally, I would go with the 2 sub set-up and port them. If you aren't happy with that then you can always add 2 more subs later.

This is kinda a stupid question isn't it? Considering not only do you have twice the cone area, you are also giving them more power than just the two by the themselves...120 more watts...think about it...

i guess LIFELYNE that who doesn´t understand is stupid. Everyone get it.. they will be the same subs, the same amp. My amp makes 150rms x2 or 500x1rms @ 4ohms.

4 12s running 120rms to each= 480rms total.

What should be louder? if i ask it, its because 1) just 2 subs, but having more power to them. 2) adding 2 subs but with less power, but i have twice cone area. 3)everything´s going ported.

Just for killarney, trey M, and boys that know and have been there since YEARS ago.... not little boys and stupids with just 20posts, and takling shit without knowing what they say...

sorry i just noticed that each setup would be ported.....4 subs should be louder but i think youll find that your amp wont be able to handle the load it would be recieving which will cause damage.

Why in the world would you run 4 SUBS of the same am at a lower Load...thats stupid...and even then 4 Subs will still Carry a louder spl but i dont see how you can Run the same load with 4 subs.... oh well...whatever floats your boat...

ok man, i´m trying to experience with that. My amp is stable @ 4ohms MONO.

2 4ohms SVC = are getting me now, a final 4ohms stereo load.

if i go with 4 4ohms SVC subs, = will get me 4 ohms MONO LOAD.

so my amp could take that. I´m just wondering what should be louder. And if there won´t be any damage either. I just rewire my system, and now i´m running 4gauge from Rockford Fosgate, and Stinger.

i thought if you Bridge a 4 ohm sub you get a 2ohm load....so im guess 4-4ohm subs would be to high of a load for your amp to hold...you might bump...for a few but im sure it will trip the protection on your amp........

if you wire them in a series you will get a 4 ohm final load

according to that site your amp only puts out 400 watts at 4 ohms bridged but it doesnt say how many volts the amp is rated at so i was wondering if you had it benched to get the 120 X 4

also how do you like the class t amp? ive heard that they tend to mess with the fm signal a little

what amp are you using....just get 2 subs that'll give you the lowest optimal load that your amp can handle....4 subs is a waste of time if you can accomplish the same thing with 2 and a larger box and port....

it's all pretty simple
