actually, the funny thing about science is that what gets disseminated to the public is in almost 100% of cases not a piece of scientific information, but a blindly-trusted stub of what actually went on in the experiment etc. Usually negative results don't get published, so the public understanding of science is automatically skewed in favour of what's funded/published.
But that's totally irrelevant, just wnated to say.
