I should Know this by now but how do I clear a sample?

I got a song wanna use as my radio single but I wanna to get the samples cleared first .
the song is "Heavy In the Chevy" and is on both of my myspace pages in my sig

the first sample is a vocal from Lil keke's song "south side" and the second is a Tony Tucker sample from orchestra to the sun

how do I get these cleared? and will it be expensive? they will play it on radio but I'm nervouse about playing it on tx radio and getting my ass sued by lil keke

get intouch with the owner of the song it self (the label/publishing company usually)
and see about how much itd cost to get the rights to use it an what not

might be best if u had ur lawyer or some represenative to do it for you some one who knows a lil about this

then u pay the fee an what not they might want to get a piece of ur albums profits

depends on how the negotiation goes

but i dont know about getting sued jus yet
why would they go after the starving local artist when they can look for platinum cats who dont clear shit

thanks .......I keep forgeting we have a lawyer for shit like this.....

but when ya put it this way fuck em .......getting sued would be good exposer it aint like I would actualy pay they ass's anyway they can put it on my credit lol

Pay for the clearance, and get the headache out of your life.

If you dont think your album will do that good, then there really isnt no logical reason for you to go that far....

If you do think theres a chance that it will bubble... TRY doing PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY cds for the streets and let it buzz.. before you start trying to do something commercial.

and im sure if you had a lawyer...you wouldnt be asking RM

well being sued isnt good, u will lose and u will have money garnished from u until its paid back (altho laws very in different places), so even if u get a job in 5 years they will garnish that, it will always be there

it depends how u used lil kekes voice...it depends from what song, if he owns the song or not aswell

as for the sample in the beat, u may wanna try to clear it for performace at first, it would be cheaper and if the song becomes a hit u can clear it for release and duplicate of the material

I was joking and I do have a lawyer Her name is Marrie Gallendo here in midland tx and my game ben stepped up.....

I just know its a few cats here who have had samples cleared and I already got a mangament firm shopping my shit so the promotion I'm putting my money into will be southern based hip hop mag's and radio and if no majors bighte I already have a distributer on the back burner so I can drop it my damn self

call them up directly. some of these people are pretty cool/easy going and you might get them to clear it for 40bucks/ a case of beer. for real.

I got back in touch with the guy in dallas who hooked me up wit paul waull when I was gonna buy a verse from him so Ima have him do the same wit keke and if his price is rite I may buy a verse from him and call it a remix........

2 of us had this dudes number in our phones my cousine lost his phone and I accidently left my pnone in the trunck of one my cars and my woofers cracked the screen his email was alos in that phone......

I thank god and Tom for myspace cause thats how I found him type in his name and his picture poped up
