theres only like 3 times you gunna use a half step... goin from white key to black key (makin it sharp or flat), from black back to white, and from keys like E to F... where the two white keys are exactly next to hear other... otherwise from black key to black key, or white key to white key is a whole step mayn.... if that helps...

scale is the notes you hit in a certain arrangement

like if some one says theyre playing a song in A Minor
it means theyll be using that set of notes and yes all notes must be from within the scale

other wise itd be off(out of) key
