CME UF7 (or 5 or 6)

Hi

Hows the action on these? They are down as 'semi weighted', which to me usually means a spongey/bad attempt at full weighted hammer action. But these look to me like normal synth action - but how do they feel? I heard they had great action. Have the other, initial problems with them been ironed out?

There's no store around where i am now, so i can't go try one out.

Thanks

went to NAMM and finally got to play it since Yamaha distributes them now. The idea of the controller is great and the transport section makes you feel like you really have a keyboard workstation. The key action is nice, as it is easily better than the action on M-audio units, and Korg Triton LE action. Its not quite as good as the E-mu action, but you can get used to it and it can be very comfortable. The build of the board is solid and makes you feel like you have something legit, if you are looking for something with better action you may want either an Xboard or buy a cheap older workstation like the Trinity you were asking about earlier. Out of all of the controllers I have tried at Namm, I would order them as such, E-mu Xboard, CME UF, Novation REmote, M-audio Axiom.

Thanks guys

I am looking for a 76 key solution, so i think the emu is out of the question. Though, they did announce a 61 key version.

I have a Mackie Control so the extra features on the UF like the faders and knobs etc don't really interest me that much - although the transport controls are very cool. I basically like that it's metal, and heavy, and looks like a solid piece of equipment.

It's not perfect but i think there aren't really many other options for the price range. I can get a UF7 for £185 which is about $330 - cheaper than it is in the usa. I'd have to spent at least double that to get a 2nd hand workstaion like a trinity (and have since gone of the idea).

So unless i find a better solution... i think it's gonna be the UF7... anyone else care to comment?

Thanks again

Chops - why do you play the drums in on the keystation and not the UF5?

i got the CME UF 7 yea i like the keys more than the m audio keys.. its semi weighted but it feels right. dont expect them shits to play like a piano though. but they feel much better than this m audio oxygen 8 that i got too.. i think its worth its price compared to other midi controllers at the price range

i have the CME UF7 for me, and Keystation Pro 88 for when i have keyboard/piano players here
i love the CME Uf7 more than the korg and m-audio controllers ive previously owned
they have a bit of a more substantial feel to them
and with new drivers constantly being updated, all of the original bugs HAVE been fixed

the sliders and trasport controls are less substantial on this thing, they feel cheap, which suprises me since the keys feel so nice

overall id recommend it, and their forums and support have treated me well
