I'm not a good mixer at all.

All I know is that my shit be piercin my ears. Not like extra extra bad or nothin...

but when I listen to the shit at a good loud level...the claps and kicks...strings...bass...that shit just hits real sharp. Like it's not smooth.

How do you make ya shit sound smoother? What kinda EQs and shit do ya'll like to fuck wit? I'm runnin Pro Tools wit the WAVES Diamond Package.

u don't have to mix or eq nothing...whatever is hurting ur ears just turn it down lol

if nothing clips then u should be fine without all the mixing bs....the real problem is probably that ur listening to the shit too loud man.

I mean if ur gonna mix it u might aswell go all the way..but u can avoid the ear-aches by just turning some levels down.

yeah i feel the same way primo, although it doesn't help that i'm stuck using some 1990's ass headphones until i get around to coppin some monitors

if its piercin yo ears, you need to check the high end
is it when you listen through your monitors or everywhere you listen?

sweep all the frequencies up top and see exactly where it is
usually try cutting somewhere between 7k-12k

try 3k-5k instead, as that's the range of the ear's resonant frequency (see: Fletcher-Munson Curves)

7-12k isn't going to be a problem on anything except hi hats and symbols unless you've got a shitload of it in there
