I did this topic about a year or so ago, but I figured I'd do it again.

What are some stupid, funny, ignorant things that you've heard from people who don't produce, whether it was your friends, relatives, rappers/singers, or acquaintances?

"Grindin is the best beat ever, period!" - One of my homeboys

"You should make the POP [referring to the snare] hit like this.......[imitates a Timbaland-esque drum pattern on a dark west coast beat]....then it'll be good!" - One of my homeboys

"All West Coast beats sound the same...they all have that same clap on every single one. It's the same clap on every song, isn't it? You can crip walk to them all!" - Somebody from my school

"Why don't you have any DJ Equipment?" "Because I am a producer, not DJ" "Well my homeboy has turntables and all that!" "That's because he's a DJ, not a producer!!!!" "Oh.....well you should get some so that I can play on them" - Dumb ass female talkin to me

the dumbest ones i get are with my turntables. I dont dj but i have 2 technics and a mixer anyways just to play around on. But ive gotten...

"So you make beats with these?" as my homie pushes a record on the turntable back and forth

"Can i try scratching on your tables?". "Yeah no problem but do it in headphones cuz im doing something with this beat". So i hear some terrible screaching coming from the headphones. Look over at this dude and he is litterally taking the needle and scratching it all over the record

LOL...also, same dude who asked me what would happen if two people made the same exact beat asked, "so since you are from LA and produce, why haven't you hooked up with Dr. Dre? It shouldn't be that hard to work with him" and he's from DC...I could see if he was from a small town and didn't know how big cities operate, but he made it sound like I could just find his office and walk to it, sit down and talk to Dre, and get put on...as if it's not 200,000 producers in the area. He did hear my beats a few years after that though, but nothin happened.
