i've had no problems working on pro tools rigs at metalworks, phase one, wellesley and many other huge toronto studios and i'm definitely NOT certified...
its one of those things people think are important because 'real jobs' require proof of a degree or something...it's the complete opposite in this business...demonstration of knowledge is 100000x better than a peice of paper saying you can do something
lmao @ engineer being a shitty job...you do realize that we make as much, if not more than, producers, right? also 90% of the good engineers out there are producers as well...and that every producer i've ever met has also had some degree of engineering knowledge...
it's important if you're going to be in the studio, period, step your knowledge game up
