what type of mic to you use?

what type of mic do you use to record vocals?

right now i got the akg 2000 I am going to upgrade budget is about $600 I am still researching on a couple of mic's but i am thinking one of these two right now.

Shure KSM32

i heard some songs done on the Audio-Technica AT4050 i liked the results but i have heard great things about the shure mic

Depends what kinda sound you want. The KSM mics are really bright and boost the highs in your voice. The AT4050 is a monsta. I'd also look into the AT4047 for a warmer sound... that's what I'm getting to replace this Studio Projects B1.

one thing tho... u gotta take people's tracks with a grain of salt... cuz i can record a song using a Sony C800G but I don't know how to mix it WILL sound like ass

yeah, plus the fact that What Preamp they're using also needs to be put into thought,

i use a Shure KSM32 w/Focusrite Platinum VoiceMaster
and also the fact that monitoring/mixing also need to be put into thought....

But...you can achieve good sound with either of the ones you stated...but its what your working with around it to make it sound that much better then what it is alone...

if you had a dope ass preamp like a Avalon Preamp/genelec's or mackie monitor's...monster cables...str8 up official vocal booth....get me tho?....shit would sound like ya had a mic worth 4-6g's...so its all up to really "testing..."

i went thru 4 mics before i stoped with this one...i just kept buying...taking it back n droppin more money each week...till a month later i stopped with this one...

guitar center/musicians friend + reciepts... last i heard they let you refund up to a month...

and if you Upgrade and purchase of higher total...(you just pay the extra over the return) they print you up a new reciept....n you just keep doin it till your satisfied...

this is why i never buy online...you dont get that option if your not satisfied then your kind of stuck with it or wait another month for another return...shits too hectic, n i like to see it n have it in hand when i buy it....plus you can go back if the shit is broke n refund immediately...

iono...g'luck, hope you get what ya need man...

AT4050 is a value for money mic i know that juelz santana use it, nigga takes it everywhere with him. AT4047 is much more smoother and doesnt have a harsh high end and i would get that over the 4050, but they are both quality mics. Right now i;m using a tlm103 which is not a good mic for rappers, to much high end, though seems like thats the trend in hip hop. My next mic purchase will be a AT4047. Like dude above i'm running my shit into a avalon 737sp, so a quality pre is essential and you can get better pres than a avalon for half the price is you shop smart.
