To me its worth it cus i do a lot of sampling

What I like is the pads, the groove/swing/rythm of the machine, and the workflow is very fast, i like everything about it, easy to edit samples and assign them to pads, creating programs, sequences, and songs are all easy to do, the screen tilts, there are 10 outputs, 2 midi in, 4 midi out

I hate the the jog wheel, it clicks loud, some will tell you the machine has a lot of bugs but i rarely ever had a problem, you only have 2 effects, Qlinks and effects are assigned to individual pads, hopefully akai will come out with an OS update where you can assign effects and sliders to whole programs, another thing i dont like is chop shop turns your slices into mono samples, but theyll probably fix that soon,

overall i give it a 9/10 but i think with a couple more OS updates it will be a 10

Got one, paid 1700 New. Sold my 2000XL to get it. Was it worth it? I would say so, It improved my workflow 10 Fold. It loads samples about 10x faster than the 2000XL did. It allows you to send program and Bank changes from the main screen, meaning if you have soundmodules connected, it will remember all the patches you used for a beat if you select the patches through the mpc, Total Recall. 10 outs is ideal, now I can program my drums the way I like at the same time and not have to worry about them being separated for tracking. The way it handles layering for drums is pretty nice, I can layer about 4 drums per pad which is a plus for me. There are way too many benefits to list really. The only thing I hate about is the look/build quality, it doesnt look as legit as a 2000XL or greater but I take care of my shit so I dont expect problems. If you got the bread and need an MPC in your life, this is the one to get.

I am yet to discover any bugs? What bugs concern you? I havent got very deep into the sampler yet besides trimming chopping samples. The timestretch/ patched phrase works beautifully

yo trust me the bugs is nothin

i think once i left the mpc on all day and when i started makin a beat and no sound was comin out, so i had to reboot it, and I noticed that a couple samples in certain programs were switched with samples i never even saved to the program, like I have a program with all kick drums, but recently i noticed like 5 pads out the 64, were playin horns and synths, not kick drums, so theres 5 kicks drums i sampled that are no where to be found, and somehow got replaced with sounds i never saved


but really i usually never come across bugs, maybe come across 1 bug every 100 hours you use it, and half the bugs is probably just me messin some shit up and blamin it on the machine

Yeah I read those before I copped mine, Havent experienced that shit, Watch for people on that board that have an Incompatible internal drive installed. I have read alot of guys are being cheap trying to use the non recommend drives and then bitching cause there files are dissappearing or all kinda shit.

I got the 2500 a few days ago and I have yet to make a beat with it. I'm like the worst person when it comes to setting up equipment. I can't stand MIDI, me and MIDI are enemies. I like to make the beat and send it out to the program then deal with it there. All this MIDI shit be killin me - for real.

I copped the Mlan for the Motif ES... I have yet to set it up.

All I want to do is be able to send my beats out from the Motif with more than 1 outs at a time.

One thing I love about the MPC though is when you hear your drums and sounds in that bitch... the shit just sounds so much thicker and full. I fucks with the MPC - all I gotta do now is figure out how I'm gonna send these shits out into the program with decent levels.

I still may send the MPC back tho - I might not really need it to do what I'm gonna do. I'll probly cop a Rack instead.

I'm also considering just getting a used MPC2000 to run my drums thru and shit... who knows. I don't sample much so its hard to justify paying 2 grand for it...

IF you dont need 4 midi outs, and are not really big on sampling and just want a drum machine, cop an MPC 1000, or a used MPC 2000XL MCD with 8 outs( I just sold one, you could have had one for under a G!!), If you dont need the extended sampling capabilities of the MPC 2500, a 1000 or 2000XL MCD with 8 outs will work perfectly in your situation. I chose the 2500 because the outs are standard, it has 4 midi outs which I need cause I was tired of daisy chaining my modules, and I like to be able to load 400+ drums at once just to have them all available at my disposal
