iight so i'm sure u've all seen my previous threads .. my gay ass computer only has 2 PCI slots .. and ONE of them is taken up by a modem card, without it my internet does not work ..

so i called my cable company, they told me jack shit .. they said that the USB cable wouldn't work .. (a little late, i already bought one.) tried to USB cable plenty of times but i can't get it to work ..

so i was looking at my Emu 1212m and i saw that one outlet or whatever on it that says External .. my modem cable that plugs into my modem CARD plugs right into that spot on the 1212m .. so if i removed the modem card, put both the emu cards in and plugged that modem cable into that spot on my emu, would it keep my internet active? or would it not work at all?

Sounds like you're calling your ethernet card a "modem card".

Seems like you want to connect an ethernet cable from your cable modem to your soundcard....

That just aint gonna work.

Go spend 15 or 20 and get a USB > Ethernet adapter. Go spend 60 and get a wireless router/USB Wireless adapter card. Spend $25 - 70 and upgrade your case. You have options.

I don't think the daughter card actually needs to be IN a pci slot - a new case would fix your problem.

...and now you know to research before you buy....

Just get the adapter, it comes with a driver disc so you install the drivers attach the adpater plug it in and you're good to go. Im sure i mentioned the adapter to you in your initial thread.

USB > Ethernet adapter .. what does that do?

keep in mind i can't have anything taking up those PCI slots .. i gotta take that ethernet card out so that i can fill those 2 slots up with my emu 1212m ..

buy a new mother board... n goto comp usa n tell them to hook it up.. a mother board is prolly like 75$ for an ok one.. n iono wat the labor cost is..

The adapter-you plug your ethernet cable into and it plugs into your usb slots. and yes circuit city, best buy, comp usa, etc should carry it, gettinig a new mother board is a lil much in this case IMO but do what you think is needed

...I don't think the slave card needs to actually be seated in a pci slot - so it's not an issue of the motherboard only having 2 pci slots - it's an issue of the computer case not having any more expansion slots. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

^ that's the usb > ethernet adapter I'm talking about. Maybe look for a USB2 adapter - it may support faster speeds....
