Logic 8 input help

Whats up guys. I need some help with Logic. I can't seem to get the program to pick up my external mic. The sound is dead when I don't select the built-in mic option. Any ideas how to get it to work? I need to record something by tonight :D

I'm not a logic user, but input routing is pretty universal and straight up a crossed the board. What kind of mic are you using? What audio interface are you using? I need more details and I'll try to help if you still need it. Hope you didn't miss your deadline.
