MBox 2 would be the right choice, right?

You could go Protools LE or Protools M-Powered. Cost-wise its probably best to go with M-Powered and the M-Audio Firewire Solo or Mobile Pre. Evening the higher-end Firewire 1814 is still less than the M-Box with Protools LE and has more features.....

Start Protools....start fruity loops....in Protools add audio channels....go to the menu...select Audiosuite....in the Audiosuite menu, select fruityloops....that channel willl have fruity loops playing via rewire....
Good luck

unless you have two mics....when you record it will be in mono...even with stereo you will see recording on the left with silence on the right....what i do is convert the file to stereo after the recording or selecting a stereo effect will do the same thing....if you are recording in stereo.....make sure the stereo link is enabled for stereo recording....also make should you are using mono 1/4 audio adapters from you sound source....
Good luck

I got a question...
right now I have two soundcards, delta 44 and e-mu 1212m. i've been using cubase for a while now and i'm quite familiar with it already. i've been using it mainly to mix and to make beats, i haven't tried recording vocals on it yet because i use adobe audition for that.
now, i've been contemplating on using protools for a while because i know it's industry standard and they say that it's best to start using protools so you're ready when you gotta work at a real studio.
i've already got protools installed now and i've tried fucking with it. i guess i could learn it, but i know it took me a while to figure out cubase and i'm already familiar with that. second, if i use protools, i'll be using my delta 44 as opposed to my e-mu 1212m.
do you think i should stick with cubase or should i move on to protools already?

I think you answered your own question. I think its good to be able to work more than one recording program, it will only you versatile in more situations.... you could have protools on one setup and Cubase on another.... i use both interchangeably to keep up to speed with both....

i used to run pro tools le fine on this computer. I took a break from music and just recently reinstalled it and I cant get it to work right. Everytime I try to record it stops after 2 seconds and I get buffer size error messages. I adjust it and I still get the error messages. Also when I try listen to stuff that was previously recorded when i had it working, i get an error message also "DAE can't get audio from the disks fast enough. Your disk may be too slow or fragmented. A firewire disk could be having trouble due to the extra firewire bandwith of CPU load."

Try defraging your disk....also consider partioning them if you havent already to keep the fragmentation small.....you may run into problems trying to run your sound and disk data thru firewire simultaneously, consider a usb 2.0 alternative....

Check to see if your drivers and OS are updated. you may need to do complete uninstall of the PT, try Uninstaller 2006, it uninstall all instances of a program, including registry, and orphaned folders and files.

If you are on a desktop grab another Firewire Card so that your audio interface and your hard drive are using separate busses. If you are on a Laptop cop yourself a PCMCIA firewire card. The main issue is that everything needs to have its own separate bus and not shared.

keep getting an error message when i try to play or record anything, it keeps saying the operating system held off interrupts for too long. if this occurs often try increasing the "h/w buffer size"in the playback engine dialog. help me!!!!!!!!!! hit me on aim swifjonez or drop me a reply

Check the settings for your sound card. Your buffer size may be too small. Try increasing your buffer size. Check you harddrive, opt to defrag.
