Isnt that just the way the digi design hardware works. I dont think there is a work around. Especially with Pro Tools. When I was running the Mpowered demo it did the same thing. Pro Tools is resource stingy.

pro tools was not designed for home studio use on computers that are used for 'everything'
therefore, it doesn't offer that kind of support

I guess I SOMEHOW must have misread that? Riigh, lol. It's all good though. Makes me even further the push of getting my laptop. I never really wanted to use this cpu for the internet anyway. But certain circumstances left me without a choice.
Aaaaaaaaaaannyways...thanks?

The only way I can think of is to go into your devices and select your builtin soundcard for your default soundcard and select the prolevel soundcard via devices/preference menu in your recording software...

How do I copy and paste regions... for example, if I'm in grid mode and recorded a 5-layer hook... how do I copy em every 16 bars? I'm using Intel Mac and M-Powered 7.1.1

This is a good choice if you want to get your feet wet in Pro Tools without coming out the pocket too much.....I think its the perfect DAW software for building your home studio....keep in mind you need a powerful CPU to reap the benefits...

You can go LE and pony up a lotta dough trying to get compatible hardware
or
you can go M-Powered and get a have a larger collection of audio interfaces to choose from to fit your budget.....you can go Protools for less than $300 (hardware + software)
my recommendation would be
M-Powered ($150) with M-Audio Firewire 1814 audio interface($299)......that combo would rival high end setups without breaking the pocketbook....

^^^ FXpansion makes one...
On another note, how do I designate a different hard drive as a recording drive in PT 7.1.1?

heres a good one:
i have the Fantom X so i never really touched softsynths so im not too experienced with software, but I just got an Apple MacBook (1.83 GHz Core 2 Duo) and im about to venture into ProTools just for tracking & mixing my beats to put them on cd to shop.
MBox 2 would be the right choice, right?

I dont think that there are any VSTs wrappers for Protools. Most of the popular VSTs have RTAS counterparts. I would love to use the Vintage Warmer VST in Protools.

Protools utilizes all harddrives attached to the computer for recording.
When you created a new project, Protools will ask where do you want to save the session you select it and Protools remembers the hard that you last save to....
