If I was you I would of called UPS as soon as I saw that rock. Then I would of tried getting my money from UPS since supposedly you say someone in UPS had replaced the product with a rock. And tell the shipper to also contact UPS and make a complanit if he really wants to help you.

get proof of shipping from the sender

he has to have proof that the package he setn weighed X amount of pounds.

If he has proof that it weighed the same as the mpc, then it was someone from the post office/ups.

and if he says he doesnt have proof, hes the one who sent the rock. If he used UPS, they give him a label with the tracking number, the weight, the billed weight, and the rest of the info you need.

Unfortunately, 685 bucks is probably not enough to warrant getting a lawyer. I charge 250 bucks an hour... and you gotta think it would take more than three hours of work to handle your case.

You may obviously be able to find cheaper attorneys out there.. but 685 bucks is small claims court territory...
