Hip-Hop bad for culture?

I'm a big fan of hiphop but I hold a view that im sure alot of people disagree with but I really want to hear some new points on what I believe.

Heres what I think, I think Hip Hop like most music started out on the basis of qaulity and then businesses/corporations took it from the people that made it and turned it into something degenerated.

I think HipHop now is a disease like tool infecting black culture on a daily basis, I do not buy into the argument that hiphop is a mirror of the streets or that whole im a reporter thing. I think thats an excuse.

HipHop to me is glorifying a part of black culture that should not be glorified at all. I mean hustling, pimping, murdering, love for material things and on and on and on. I mean how detremental is this to a kid who wants to aspire and go to college?

These things that hiphop instills in kids at a young age helps them make decisions that affect their future.

Hiphop to me is an embarassingly selfish business that does not mind hindering social development by encouraging ingnorence.

(Before anyone comes down on me imma tell you why I posted this, I really wanted to hear what people had to say, and well the board looks like its slowed down alot so I tried to think of a topic that was interesting. )

I totally agree with you, but some rap artists or any other Hip Hop Artist are doing something positive to degenerate the negativity. They're providing college scholarships, charity, community and so on.

I think the Parents and music stores are failing to prevent these children from buying these albums. The album already says "Parental Advisory", which is the lacking responsibility of Parenting. It was only made for adults, who are assumingly known for full responsibility and experience to know right from wrong.

There are times I agree with some of the rap artists that adds "negativity" in the terms of civilization that rebels the current civics. I mean the racism still occurs in the law enforcements. The Educational System, Fiancial conflicts, the Gorvernment and etc.

I don't think it's fair that someone outside the blueprint of Hip Hop, judges us about our expression of Hip Hop. Other artists such as partygoers, I do not know what the fuck is their point of view in Hip Hop, or Commercialized Artists.

Remember Hip Hop isn't just Rap

What You Give, Is What You Get Back.

I agree with u as well, though i would say if u really look at hip hop as a whle its not as negative as people think.... but what is promoted is the worst of the whole group... but shitty music with negative unintelligent themes is what sells.... so thats what gets pumped to the public. And it wont change cuz people dont understand that and will not get to hear good, thought provoking, intelligent hip hop because its not what is pumped into our face everywhere we go... instead u hear unintelligent rediculous noise passing off as what hip hop is all about. which isnt right. but thats how it is seen.

most people who really do listen ot hip hop and know what is going on inthe buisness do not listen to the comercially promoted music. its everyone else which makes up the majority that listens to and buys it.... and since everyone else doesnt truly listen to hip hop it will always be like this... just like with any other form of music.

ayo, i think rap/hip-hop music is good for the youth cus it provides innercity/strugglin cats with a chance to be somethin. now theres mad muhfuckas in the game right now, who don't know how to operate, talkin about •••elry and all that. one thing i never understood is that hip-hop/rap is for the streets. its for these kids who dont have a lot of money. kids who struggle everyday an shit and now these fake bussas wanna come out an talk about how much money they got an all that...the majority of the streets dont know what that is or what it feels like to be wealthy. if there like me, they're just livin, tryin to eat and not carin about who has the most bread.

i think hip-hop/rap is a good vehicle to get out of the struggle for many people, black, white, asian, puerto rican, mexican etc. i think that hip-hop is pure, but the thing that drags it down is the rich white cats in suits and ties who think they know what hip-hop should sound like. most these assholes grew up in rich neighborhoods and have never witnessed any real pain, let alone stepped one foot in the hood. the music industry is basically rapin artists like crazy, and mad artists dont give a shit. as long as their faces are on the tv everyday, and they pull in good paper, they could give a fuckless about their reputation. if i were ever to get major labels interested in me, i'd roll with a black owned and operated label, or some white cat who really knows what hip-hop is about and feels for it. other than that, fuck em, cuz the only thing their tryin to do is exploit me.

So no hip-hop head listens to Jay-Z?? Nas?? Eminem?? Kanye?? That shit is all commercially promoted...

Just because closed-minded underground heads don't listen to different music doesn't mean that MOST people don't.

although being "thuged out" is the thing to be.. i think that there will be a change if just a small one because people are getting tired of the same old bull thats being played.. i mean k-os leeked out and pitch black, and of course the rawkus fam is doing there thing out there, black eyed peas are killin it, people are starting to get more exposed to pure hiphop music which is perfect...

and im a hiphop head and i not only listen to hiphop music but good quality music...

Pitch Black makes a lot of that same "thugged out" music...

Rawkus is done and over.

Black Eyed Peas are pop music now.
