What's funny is that a lot of these old school cats were once leaders and innovators in flow and rhyme technique... but now they're followers, copying the new cats' styles.
Masta Ace studied Eminem to the punch.
Big L was inspired by Kane, but now Kane is rapping just like Big L.
KRS One has been kicking that off-beat Ras Kass style for the last 7 years after defiantly spitting on Criminal Minded... "never offbeat 'cause it don't make sense."
Can't really say much about Kool G and Rakim, they're still kicking their original styles... but it doesn't sound new today because everyone else sounds like them... the multis and rhyme patterns that these new MCs are catchin' on to today were kicked by these fathers back in '86.
